You can blame the non tackling on undersized players and slower to ball than your top LSU defenses of the past.

I agree with you. The point I made was we aren’t tackling bad because of trying to make big hits.

A lot of factors go into this issue. Like I’ve always said, it starts at youth level. Defense is a far after thought. You can’t just get by anymore being the biggest/fastest kid. It comes down to technique, which you’re teaching kids that played offense their entire lives at a way higher level.

I see so many posters on here that think because they have the LSU jersey on they are all world. We have some slow guys on this defense and if you point out that somebody is <170 lbs you get DVd to the limit.

On the three long runs on us this year average speed dudes were pulling away from our chasers (mostly DBs).

College players lowering their heads and looking down at the ground going in for a tackle. You are taught at a young age to keep your head up where you can see everything as its happening. Its crazy to think at this age guys still dont know how to tackle.

The awful tackling is so infuriating and very difficult to watch.

I used to get fed up with some of the old LSU defenses missing tackles bc they were trying to blow people up... now we just whiff on the basic stuff. Can't remember the last time we've had a game with several big hits

That being said, I still think we are better defensively than last year

Watch where the belly button goes - that is where the rest of the player will be - hard to fake a belly button movement to go a different direction.

That's the only advice coach gave me back in high school - worded pretty well.

they can sling them hips, but the belly button only goes half that fast - and it he is really moving in that direction you aren't far behind.

Then go for the thighs in close

Honey Badger is this past referred to. Not slow to the ball or unwilling to attack with proper technique.....all of which this team sorely lacks.
