re: What are your feelings about Stingley?

Stingley is an uber talented player but I never heard of any sort of leadership from him. He was awesome in 2019 and apparently in the 2018 bowl prep too.
Sucks he hasn't been healthy to have any sort of production the last two years. Would have been cool if he was a vocal, alpha dog team leader to carry the guys through all of the struggles the last two years. Devin White was that for the team in 2017 after the Troy and Miss State losses. Some guys just don't have that and you can't force it on a player just because they have elite skills.

he came here with so much hype and was so good as a freshman.

Has he been healthy, he would have played this year. I respect him and wish he did not get injured this year. Tough for him - even harder on the rest of the team because he is very talented. I hope he has a successful NFL career.

Good talent, glass jaw. Loved him when he was able to play.

Will he always be a Tiger? Is he Ben Simmons 2.0?
Simmons NEVER gave a frick while at LSU
Singletary at least put in one good year.
That said, my "feelings" about him are, I really don't give a frick about him. He's about as LSU as Peyton Manning. I'm not necessarily going to hate on him but he is what he is. A near perfect representation of someone who has probably used the words I and Me way too damned often in their lives.

Did more for LSU than pretty much all the cynics in this thread ever will. Always a tiger!

He helped us win in 2019.
Yes, he will always be a Tiger.
On a side note, I couldn't imagine busting my as year in and out for a coaching staff who has no idea what they're doing.
Just thinking about it blows my mind.
Just like in 2012 when we couldn't cross the 50-yard line in the NC after a record defensive performance.
I feel the reason we've had a massive exodus over the year is that there hasn't been much buy-in overall.
Meanwhile, compared to Bama for example - It's an easier call to stay that next year when you know your chances of a playoff appearance are pretty high.
Ex: "If I stay, we're probably going to make another national championship run, so I want to experience what most athletes don't. THEN I'll go pro."
A literal win/win.
So really, when I think of any player in this kind of "controversy", I think of the coaches who created this environment.
I hope Brian Kelly can bring that back to the program.

He disappeared after 2019. At least he didn't go to gumpland.

Stingley was a good player.

No question he quit as did Ricks.

Then why play the game? He quit. Simple as that.

HB was kicked off team, hardly a quitter.
If you think he wasn’t given opportunities to stay on the team and chose not to change his life for the team you’re kidding yourself. I love Matthieu and he is a good Tiger now, but he wasn’t for a minute. He quit on his team by putting them in a position where he had to be kicked off. He put himself over the team, and unlike Stingley it wasn’t putting himself in a better position for his future.

Shouldn't this board have topics reserved for Tigers? Move this to the 'other sports' board.

Our feelings are irrelevant. If you played hurt last year, and new you were a top 5 draft pick you would have done the Exact same thing.

I can very easily see both “sides of the coin” when it comes to his LSU legacy. However, I can 10000% guarantee that if he goes to the league and has the kind of success and career that PP7 has had, the contingent of the fan base that looks at him as “thanks for 2019 then quit” will drop off to almost zero. They will proudly proclaim him as another great ambassador of the program and prime example of the elite tradition of DBU.
If he busts or has an otherwise injury-riddled mediocre career, (ala Fournette sans his rookie/current season) he will always own the moniker.
