They advanced to ITA Quarterfinals today...top 8 in the country.

Look for them to compete for NCAA title in the next 2-3 years with a #1 recruiting class coming in.
Yep. This year they will have a sweet 16 to elite 8 run. Next year and the years after they will be legit favorites for the title

Going from the worst facility in the country to the best sure helps things

Lsupride87 what do you think of the men's coaching situation? The LSU men's team seems to be treading water in recent years. That post about Michael Sell coaching the men and Julia coaching the women seemed intriguing.

I 100% think the team is heading in the right direction. We need to give the staff a few years to utilize this new facility in recruiting

So here is the deal. Turning around the women's team was as simple as a good coach and new facility. With 8 full scholarships, it is standard recruiting. For Mens tennis, it takes an Admin and compliance dept that is willing to work for Men's tennis. With only 4 scholarships, the admin has to be willing to find "legal money" to allow the team to bring in good players. Our compliance dept is not even close to being as willing to do that compared to other schools that have consistent mens programs. Schools like UVA, Ole miss, and UGA have specific scholarships they use for tennis that is outside the Athletic realm.

No prob. Here is something else. The NCAA does not require an incoming athlete to take an English language entrance exam(TOEFL exam). However, for whatever dumbass reason, LSU requires one. So we have lost great recruits because they could not pass the exam. And those said recruits end up going to UGA or Ole Miss who doesnt require the exam

Why don't they drop the exam and give the tennis program every chance they can to get recruits? Doesn't make sense. They can build a multi million dollar facility but cant't drop an exam, that would cost nothing.

Both of which have no recent championships. The exam is fine.

The exam is the dumbest thing the compliance department at LSU does. They claim it is to help them know who can handle the athletic workload of college at LSU based on the English score the TOEFL provides. Really? So the recruit we had from Spain who took the exam in English, his third language, wasnt going to succeed at LSU? He ended up at UGA and an academic all-american. And that happens all the time. If you gave the TOEFL to the football recruits 80% wouldnt pass and get into LSU.
