WVU is legit. Easily the best team we have faced. The reverse is also true though.

I also don't think our defense fears any team in America at this point.

Their line is pretty garbage. UNC's 2nd string probably beats them.

My bad. I think the point still holds true though, as WVU will probably be the best team LSU has faced. UNC, depleted. Vandy And MSU may finish at the bottom of their respective divisions this year. LSU coming off a conference win could disrespect WVU and slip up.

if you are basing this off of marshall game, it has been said that the marshall d coordiantor who left wvu the year before was stealing signs. i think wvu gave up several sacks in that game. hopefully they choose to throw the ball up like msu rather than give up sacks.

With the teams you listed, you have not experienced a defense with this kind of quickness, speed, and strength. Peterson is everything advertised, and then some. This defense is truly something to see. The way I have described it to others - Your QB hands the ball off to the RB, and 11 of the meanest, fastest, strongest, SOB's you could imagine all try to take the the poor guy's head off. It's like a pick-up game of "all against all", and your are the slowest white guy within 500 miles. The only time teams have had any success moving the chains against us is when we've taken our foot off of the pedal. It has been fun to watch.

Offensively, there has not been any reason to open the throttle, as of yet. Coaches have played a very conservative game-plan, the reason of which has been THE discussion here of late. We have large, strong, RB's with quick feet and above average speed. Our play-makers on offense are probably the best you have ever faced as a group. Oftentimes, we have operated on a less than imaginative basis - the question is WHEN the coaches will turn the play-makers loose and utilize them to their fullest potential.

Special teams - all that needs to be said is Patrick Frickin' Peterson. A 21st century version of Neon Deon.

Lastly, until you have experienced it, there is nothing quite like Saturday Nite in Death Valley.

I don't see LSU disrespecting anyone this season since LSU probably feels disrespected.

All I really know about you guys is that you have a QB with a lot of potential who appears to be struggling. Is he a dual threat or drop back guy?

Actually, the QB situation was blown way out of proportion. He had a bad game against Vanderbilt last week, his first bad game of his career, and a bunch of Jarrett Lee lovers went bananas lobbying for his back up, Jarrett Lee, to play because he had a good spring game. Anyway, the coaches aren’t that stupid and Jordan Jefferson played lights out last night.

Jordan Jefferson is more of a pro style quarterback but he is very fast and athletic enough to burn you with his feet as well. Our biggest problem on offense is a very incompetent OC who doesn’t have the first clue how to call plays and doesn’t know how to take advantage of a receiving core which consist of not only 3 five star receivers, but five star receivers that were rated number one in the nation at their respective positions the year they were recruited. We also have a freak tight end who should be back in action after injuring his foot next week. He was originally a high 4 star receiver who didn’t stop growing until he became a tight end, but he is still as fast and elusive as he was when he was a wide receiver. He should present some interesting match up problems if our incompetent OC can figure out how to use him. Our running attack is probably a little above average with Steven Ridley, 6’0, 225lbs, being our biggest go to guy, and his biggest run to date is a 65 yarder against Vanderbilt last week.

quote:

I also know that your defense has been dominant, but was surprised to see that MSU actually had more first downs and yardage than LSU last week. You guys certainly more than made up with it with 5 turnovers, but I was surpised nonetheless.

Like I said, we have an offensive coordinator that is more than just a little incompetent. We should have beaten Mississippi State by 4 or 5 touchdowns, but we played not to lose instead of playing to win.

quote:

Edit: Also, like I said earlier, we have played SEC teams six times in the last ten years, so, I am fully aware of "sec speed" lol.

This will be the fastest SEC defense you’ve ever seen.

Will see. Could be a let down game. WVU is the most talented team LSU has played to date.

Yeah, LSU caught a break on that one, but played really sloppy and still came away with the win.

Thanks guys, IMHO this really will be an interesting matchup for both teams.

I am pleasantly surprised to see that you guys have not been wowed by your Oline. Seems to be average from reading your posts.

I know it may seem counterintuitive, but over the last ten years our 3-3-5 has actually been pretty good against the run. The weakness seems to be the intermediate routes. QBs who can make quick reads through their progressions and make accurate throws have shredded this defense at times. Jefferson doesnt seem to be that kind of guy. Is he a runner?

If Brandon Hogan is still out, you guys may finally get your big game out of Jefferson. I am visuallizing stuffing the run and then getting beaten over the top on play action. that worries me. If Hogan plays I will feel much better.

Much respect for your defense. If your dline blows us up I think this could be a very low scoring affair. If it doesnt, I like our chances.

I am very anxious to watch this battle. I anticipate quick throws out of Geno to protect our tackles against your speedy DEs. We dont make a ton of long throws, but we hit a lot of short and intermediate routes in stride and then let our speedsters (or as some of you affectionately refer to them "the three midgets" lol) make plays after the catch.

Geno will hit a lot of different recievers. He is by far the best passing QB we have had since Marc Bulger. He is the real deal, have no doubt. He can run if he has to, but he is no Pat White, Jarrett Brown or Rasheed Marshall with his feet. He has the straight line speed to pick up a first down, but I cringe when I see him try to juke someone instead of just sliding.

Expect Sanders, Austin, Bailey and Devine to all have multiple catches. Your Peterson CB is lights out and he will give me heartburn I am sure.

Of course most of you guys know about Devine, so I dont need to delve deep there. I really hope we go to more I formation against you guy. We have run a lot of single back, but we have two excellent fullbacks that could really help our struggling Oline out. I am actually a little mystified by our sparse use of the I.

Jefferson runs well and can beat a team if it sells out, but does not go through his progressions, he locks onto his primary reciever. no team in the last several years has been able to guard our wr's, our qb's just can't see them open and get them the ball; the short and intermediate throws works well against our d and i am sure that this will be the gameplan for ya'll.

i formation will not work against us unless your oline is 300-330ish and your rb's are 220-235ish, which they are not. your game will be the short quick passes, run just enough to keep it honest with more qb runs and speed sweeps than up the gut and try to throw over the top of our safeties down the middle of the field for quick strikes every once in a while. i think it could work pretty well actually. i see ya'll being very successful until the field gets smaller in the red zone.

Actually Ryan Clarke is listed at 245, although I actually think he is more in the 225-230 range. He is our pounder and one my favorite players. He had 65 yards on 15 carries, the majority of which were on a nine minute game ending drive.

Noel Devine is a midget for sure, but he is absolutely electrifying. You guys may hold him in check on ten runs, and then boom he is gone for 65 yards, leaving broken ankles in his wake.

I dont see us going over the top. I dont think our oline can give Geno that much time against you guys.

Little of this is true, you have just lowered the standards of what constitutes a good passing game for a QB at LSU. Our passing game is mediocre, at best. The defense keeps LSU from a losing record.

imo, the problem with clarke will be that he won't have the line to push for him. ya'll have the smallest oline we have seen this year, smaller than Vandy's even. 285 just won't get it done and 245 for a te won't get it done, imo.

WVU took UGA and OU apart in recent bowl games. I think they're more than capable of playing a great game in Tiger Stadium. The question marks are if the WVU OL can handle the LSU front 7 and if LSU can take advantage of mismatches with the Tiger WRs against the WVU secondary.
