Kevin Minter played mostly OLB until Kelvin Sheppard was drafted and then moved to MLB after he left.

It was Hunter and Kwon that got abused on the 1st TD run.
Welter may not be as good as Shepperd and Minter were. But Welter isn't playing behind the same caliber D line both of those guys played behind.

All 3 of our LB's looked like cow farts until the DL started eating blockers. Hard for an LB to make plays when the Guard is on him.
Once the DL turned around, so did the rest of the D. A piss poor DL can make the entire defense look bad.

Herron didn't play one snap last night. I'm speculating, but, even though he traveled, maybe he was benched bc of the bicycle theft in the spring and the firecracker incident in the summer.

There needs to be a balance struck somewhere. Clearly Welter deserves criticism as do others. MLB is kind of the QB of the defense, and just like QB, that makes that position more exposed to criticism when it's not played well. One side needs to admit they are bashing and the other needs to admit that Welter deserves some of the criticism.
