And yet we are still Sitting with a better record than we did the last couple of seasons at this same point in the season..lol
I posted this a while back in another thread. LSU has made the CWS (the goal every year) 18 times. Only 2 of which had 20 or more losses. Paul has a run of now 4 consecutive seasons with 20 or more losses. And you say, “welcome to baseball”?
Baseball is no doubt the most finicky of the collegiate sports. I understand that, but baseball is also a very statistical sport. At what point will you accept the stat i just stated? LSU may very well go on a run, they may sweep arky. However, at what point do YOU start to accept that Paul is allowing the program to slip?

tl;dr
This goes beyond "that's baseball". "That's baseball" applies to nuances of the game that make or break a game here and there.
We should have been stronger offensively returning Watson, Duplantis, Cabrera and having Smith back at SS, plus the addition of some power from the incoming freshman class.
Pitching has not been solid in any phase, not to mention the continuous, yearly injuries that mimic a MASH unit.
Much was expected and little delivered. It happens. Mainieri still knows baseball but he needs to reevaluate his staff.

Yep. That’s baseball. Not gonna win every game

No you mean "not gonna win any midweek games against in state teams". But you still support this pathetic display of baseball and incompetent coaching.
That is what you believe.
Fans like you hold on to some illusion that LSU is somehow gonna turn it on at the end of the year and make a magical run to Omaha. Well, I heard all that crap last year and LSU got embarrassed by Oregon State and sent home from a Regional. Yet, another year goes by and LSU is pre-season #1 and LSU is staring not making the tournament at all dead in the face.
What gets me about fans like you is the
delusion y'all can talk yourself into instead of seeing reality that is crystal clear.
Getting your arse blown out 12-1 at home against a 29-15 team with a 51 RPI is reason for concern but it is in fact just more of the same which has been going on for the entire season. You can wave pom-poms if you want but LSU has more problems with this team than any I can remember.

Wait. All I have heard is moffitt at 88 mph can't locate and no secondary pitch is nearly unhittable. Wait coach he has a scholly and we can't find one left handed pitcher in the country. Ok coach Paul. I hear you.
Tommy Moffitt's son has an LSU baseball scholarship!? The guy who just started pitching okay this year, his Senior season? In a sport with severely limited scholarships? Whos dad works for LSU and can more than afford to send him there without wasting a scholarship?
Further reaffirming the notion that CPM is the baseball version of Les Miles. Looks like it takes about 6-7 years for Louisiana's infamous nepotism to take effect on outsiders.
By the way, in case you question my nepotism remark, also know that Clay Moffitt is Pauls son's friend from high school.

Ohhhnwe are all impressed by you high standards coach but you should stick to watching football. If you expect to win every baseball game you will never be happy

Here is his stat line before tonight:
10.80 ERA, 0-0, 10 App, 13.1 IP, 17 H, 16 ER, 9 K, 11 BB, 0.333 Opp BA
That explains Tech's runs. I guess in return Tech threw their ace at us? At least for the first 6 or so innings?

Man this game pretty much represents this season.
Almost shutout by Tech, 12-1 at the box.

and LA Tech was playing like it was the CWS
this is such a fricking lame arse excuse we continue to throw around, dropping the occasional midweek game is one thing, rolling over and not even competing is a team issue.
1 run against LT? Not great. One run against SWAC pitching? Pathetic and should never happen.

Because teams will always have games where no one can hit, that’s baseball
That seems to happen against almost every starting pitcher we face. He can be the ace of the staff, or some rag arm who can barely throw strikes. The result is usually the same. Only when we get into the bullpen can we sometimes have success. But not always.

Please show your face and tell us more. Clearly you’re an expert and were talking down to us in your OP.

I’m no expert, I’m just taking the side of the argument that no one else is talking about
Posted on 5/10/19 at 10:39 pm to tadelatt
No, you called other people who didn’t share your argument fairweather fans. And then your argument got proven dead wrong. It’s petty and immature.
