Ive noticed this too. From my lifetime here I think the problem is that people from Louisiana, while good-hearted people who love life, arent the smartest, the most creative or spend much time thinking outside the box. They also are very emotional, fearful and panicky. Resistant to change

I disagree, I feel the opposite at least in regards to regular La folks. Maybe politicians and some of the "higher up" type people are?

Where is the culture problem

I disagree with your assessment. In the chicken/egg discussion, it starts at the top, not with the football coach. I'm not even sure the midget could be successful at LSU today with the two idiots above him. It started with Emmert who went out and got $atan, not the other way around. I doubt we will see a reversal in our direction until we get rid of FKing (I think any competent leader would get rid of Alleva with the swiftness). So instead of crying about the coach we got stuck with, the ire and complaints should be focused on dumb and dumber at the top. That said, the next steps above them, the BOS and ultimately Governor Honor Code, are not especially bright and crooked to boot, so....
tl;dr LSU is screwed

Agree with your post but also don't see the sky falling as some do. Yes, LSU is currently a second tier program, top 20 but not top 10. However, we are closer to reaching the top tier than dropping to the third tier.
This year was tough with injuries and the Troy loss has certainly left a bad taste in the program's mouth. LSU is depleted at OL/DL and it showed throughout the year. We couldn't protect Etling against ND and couldn't get pressure on their QB. Hopefully O can build our lines because we all know this is where you win championships.
Unfortunately for us, and the rest of the SEC, we are currently dealing with an unprecedented Bama run. Take this out of the equation and LSU has a couple more championships.
I agree that Alleve and King definitely hold the program back and they need to be replaced. I do not like the process used when we hired Coach "O" but they are not about to fire him.
So, while changes need to be made, this is not the end of LSU football. And yes, there is life outside of LSU athletics for a majority of fans.

quote:No, but we have a home-grown athletic director at A&M that we need to “bring home”
LSU doesn't have any home-grown head coaching talent other than Coach Orgeron, so, there aren't many to "bring home".
Many changes need to occur to change the culture at LSU, but this would be a great place to start.

It took an elite coach like Saban
You talk like Saban came before Emmert.
Emmert got the ball rolling in the right direction vs goodolboys.

We have a culture problem... again. I agree with everything you said, but you stopped too soon. You said "all the way to the top" but you only went up to the university president. All the way to the top means higher than that. It's the jackasses on the board of supervisors, the corrupt politicians who hand out positions on it as political favors for their cronies, and, ultimately, the people who keep electing these frickwads. All the way to the top ultimately leads all the way to the bottom, the very grass roots. It's simple GIGO. Garbage people elect garbage political leaders who appoint and confirm garbage board members to oversee the university who hire garbage administrators who hire garbage people to do the individual jobs like teaching classes or coaching sports teams. And, no surprise, we wind up with garbage results in the classroom, on the playing field and everywhere else. This is, as you said, a culture problem. A problem with the very culture of the state of Louisiana. And it will never, ever change. It's why just about everybody with a brain and a chance leaves that shithole.
