Established coach, got him 2 years before conference expansion and Saban leaving at the beginning of the NIL/Portal madness. One SEC West title, a Heisman winning QB, top offense in college football, two 10 win seasons, and two years to build relationships and be positioned for the future.

Stability, culture, preparing players for the pros and for life, consistent winning. The defense being horrible is an aberration at LSU. So, that has been addressed. The Fence is up in recruiting.

The timing ended up being perfect to take advantage of the chaos.

True, because what’s going on at Alabama is genuine chaos in a Program most everyone would have been expecting to be a well oiled machine by time Saban retired.

Frankly, Saban retired in a manner that made sense for the old system. He waited to the first day of classes in the spring semester to do it. That would have locked in a bunch of kids in the old system. Saban miscalculated.

The way and timing of Saban’s retirement seems suspicious to me. He’s one of the most calculating people on earth. I don’t buy for one second this story that he didn’t know until just a few minutes before walking into the team meeting. bullshite. Not sure we will ever get the real story but I’ll bet he put another season ending salary increase ultimatum on Bama, and they finally blinked. So he quit in a way and a time that inflicted maximum damage.

It may take another 2-3 years before the portal settles down with talent spread more evenly. Some day, players won't have an open spot on so many rosters and will need to stay put more often.

No.

What happened is that Saban is going to do what’s best for Saban. He probably quit the day after he got some contractual bonus or something.

NIL and the portal will not spread talent evenly. It will make it the opposite. Schools with more money will get the top talent. Alabama may very well be screwed. It’s not exactly a poor school but it’s not rolling in billions either.

I disagree with you on this point. I think the Bama NIL network can find the money...........Bama is screwed because Nick Saban is no longer the head coach.

I'm loving the chaos and hope the gump nation never recovers from it all.

i hope the melt never ends for these entitled band wagon fans.

the SEC/REC with the cheating, QB head hunting and rigged outcome of games has caught up with these assholes.

I could see Saban being a looming shadow/hindrance over the program moving forward, much in the way Phil Fulmer stayed around and dabbled in advising/assisting with big decisions until he was eventually named athletic director and then all programs seemingly took a dive.

It's nice to see the tide of opinion start to sway in the right direction.

Kelly, and his approach and process is incredibly similar to what Sabans was, and he also isn't afraid to make a change or adapt to a changing landscape.

It's those 2 qualities, the detail and process driven approach, and the ability to diagnose issues and respond to them correctly that make both Kelly and Saban as successful as they have been.

These qualities exhibited by Kelly since he's been at LSU are why I am convinced that LSU is the rising superpower in the new Super-SEC.

Especially now with Alabama out of the way, our path to the top is clear.
