Do you honestly believe there will be that many weekends where we score 6 runs or less?
I can't say, too early to tell. What was the concern coming into this season? Hitting/scoring runs. Why did we lose 2/3 to App State? Hitting/scoring runs. This weekend we faced good, but not great, pitching. We struggled mightily to score runs.

So you agree its not likely, and this was more of a probably rarity.
LSU hit pretty well during most of the non conference schedule.

I didn't agree to anything. The jury is still out on LSU's ability to hit decent pitching.

Alcorn St, Grambling St, McNeese St, Northwestern St, etc.
It's like saying that LSU football scored 45 points vs North Texas and 10 points vs Alabama. "Hey, we're averaging 27.5 points a game, not too shabby."

And dartmouth, and michigan, notre dame, air force, and app st. are all included in their season averages

Remind me, please. In the 4 games vs these teams, how many runs did we score? So you're going to claim that LSU is going to be okay hitting-wise because we scored a few runs against the baseball powers from Dartmouth, Air Force, and Michigan?

I'm not saying they will be okay, just saying its too early to judge. Another 2 SEC series, and we'll know where we are with the bats.

I don't think it's too early to tell. We can plainly see this team can't hit good pitching. They struggle to hit above average pitching. Why can't some of you people see this.?

Season is 1/3rd complete. This isn't a great hitting team and pitching will have to carry the team.

I'll agree with that.

Clearly this isn't a good hitting team. But I think what josh means is give it another couple weeks to see if it will be "good enough", when coupled with our pitching and defense, to give us a chance to win consistently....or to see if it is just completely awful.

I agree, we'll see in the next couple weeks.

but the one thing i cant stand.....ground outs. they need to get up under that ball and lift it over the bases. that killed us today.
if aaron nola gets comfortable.....watch out.
i hope they make improvments where its needed.

I know I said this a million times, but they bang the damn ball into the ground right in front of the plate. That's not hitting the ball well. That's barely getting a piece of the top of the ball. This happens very often.

I don't like the weak ground outs and would prefer more line drives, but I'll take the ground balls before fly balls. We don't have any power, it's like Willie Mayes Hayes in Major League....except they don't have the speed either.
Posted on 3/18/12 at 8:35 pm to MOT
I agree, a ground out is better than a fly out. At least a ground ball might find a hole. But we do hit a lot of weak ground balls and with weak ground balls it don't matter where you hit them, the fielder has enough time to get to it and throw you out.

Broham, we were saying the same thing today.

No, I'm a psychic, better than the one that predicted the NC game.

Lucky man!
I will be in Auburn this weekend. I hope the bats come alive on the road.
