I do remember, at last year's Tennessee game, being jealous that they barely had any PA's at all! Given, I couldn't really hear their band that well even though they're mic'ed, but it must be nice having more freedom to play.

One thing I've noticed is that LSU will take every available opportunity to trot somebody out on the field for an acknowledgement, regardless of who they are. Granted, it happens during time outs, but that's time when y'all could be playing.

Honestly, along as the AD and Chancelor keep dictating what songs can be played, and what songs are forbidden, I'm of the belief that we should see whether the players want Rap & Heavy Metal at breaks or the Band, or a combination thereof.

Let the players decide......

The Administrators already have our money, and clearly don't have any concern as to what the fans may or may not like....

Just say'n.......

This. It's overkill.

The thing that gets me about the canned music is that why was it even started? And ok, somebody started it but it's obviously a fail because the majority hate it. So suck up your pride and admit it was a terrible idea, and go back to the way it used to be pre-canned music.

(ETA: The sad part is that LSU has to pay BMI and ASCAP fees to play said music. And if they don't, they should be and will be soon.)

I know there are a few douches on here that make fun of the marching band and don't care, and would rather hear the most typical canned songs from "Best of Stadium Music", than to hear Fight for LSU. But realize if you're in this crowd, you are in the big time minority.

I really prefer the band. The canned music cheapens the LSU Football experience and is more of an irritation than anything else. Also, bring back Tiger Rag after the PATs!!!!

I hope they're not as bad at the rest of their responsibilities as they are at selecting music.

This.

But we might hear the students yell "Assholes".

I went to a game with a girl I was dating my freshman year. We sat with her parents in their seats, not in the student section, so I sold my ticket. (Back when you could sell tickets without offering a blood and semen sample.)

First down, I was careful of what I yelled, until the old lady in front of me screamed "Kick Their arse!"

It's only a matter of time before they do away with that one too.

I love the "Tiger Stadium is a family atmosphere" excuse too, when I've heard more vulgar and inappropriate stuff sitting outside then student section than ever sitting in it.

If they want to hear canned music, then they can go to a pro sporting event. One of the things that makes college football so special is the pageantry that comes from the marching bands, mascots, cheerleaders, etc. Little by little, LSU is destroying that for the sake of marketing and sponsorship. I realize that it's not unique here, but that doesn't make it any less sad.

Have any of those schools banned one of their team's long storied songs because some students might say a potty word if it gets played?

They didn't ban it for a dirty word, they banned it cuz it's so stupid, and makes our fans sound like choads.

I don't think you understood what long storied song I was referring to. It's alluded to directly above this post.

i've heard plenty of honest, non-lsu fans say how much they like that our band has so many traditions, songs, chants, etc...I never really appreaciated it until i started paying attention at other stadiums. Even though some of our favorites have been taken away, we STILL have a good band and should keep what traditions we have.

I am so glad that some of you younger fans agree about the horrible canned music. It is so loud that it actually puts my heart in AFib. Don't laugh, you, too, will get old. I must take ear plugs to the game. It is fine for the warm-up, but put it to bed after that.

Alabama plays canned music and it's absolute garbage. Sounds like a hip-hop nighclub and it's way too loud. I say stick to tradition and let the band play. That's one of the things that makes college football unique. And no, I'm not some cranky old fart, just a guy that loves his college football and doesn't want to see the game-day experience polluted.

The canned music at TS, and even Moreau, the timing of when it is played, dampens the enthhusiasm as frequently as it pumps it up.
