I’ve been saying it’s the Jr’s leaving that is hurting us the most. We played bama without 3/5 of our oline from last year. Weathersby, Clapp, Ingram.

Our weakness is OT. Weathersby was a huge loss and he didn’t get drafted. If Rosenthal can live up to his OT billing, you could move Charles to Rt. Hines, Thomas, and Lewis would give you strong guard play.

The key to making a run next year is keeping the Jr’s save White and Greedy. (1st rounders should go).

I hate it but bama is on another planet than everyone this year. Not just LSU. We are Bamas rival. 10 Louisiana players on their team. Their open date is before us, saban rather beat us than Au. Actions are louder than words.

I really don’t think play calling is the issue. Continue building the trenches and you will be able to call what you want with success. You won’t need te’s and rb’s to help block. You will have 3-4 wr’s in routes and a qb with time to throw. You will have rb’s running with success. The games we won, we won the trenches, the ones we lost, we lost the trenches.

We must win the trenches in February to win them in November. We are headed in the right direction with this philosophy. Just be patient. Our time is coming. We aren’t that far away. We took a big leap forward this year. Just have to stay the course and believe.

You think we can out muscle Alabama in the future? This is the Miles way of thinking.

It's never going to happen. Remember the interviews of the past LSU players that went pro? The recruiting philosophy is 3 and out. Most of these high tier players wouldn't come here if they had to stay 4 years to get paid.

Our DL is going to be a complete mess next year if Fehoko or Rashard leave.

Yes you are right winning the trenches usually means winning the game, but don’t you think there are ways to counter a weak offensive line? Do you think running play action all night is an effective plan? Is there no way to scheme around our offensive line getting beat? Could we have called different plays ( do we even have them) where our receivers weren’t running fly routes?

This one right here.

Why would a recruit choose LSU over 'Bama? You tell them they start immediately and will be draft ready in 3 years.

We've been doing it for years.

As much as it pains to agree with this, it's true too. Look at some of the starters on their team last game: Dylan Moses, Patrick Surtain JR, Saivion Smith. These are our guys flipping to Bama because they see a much better opportunity to win. This is the difference.

I agree.

O has made almost all the right moves, I will give him another year to continue improving the team. If he recruits well within the program I think we are a dominant football team next year.

I haven’t said that in 7 years and I was a big Les fan

Nope, just neutralize them. We did last year.

Bama can only take 25. I think I am seeing a shift in our strategy.

In 2017 no OL from LSU declared. 1 DL did.

In 2017 Alabama had 1 OL declare, no DL.

In 2018 Alabama had 1 DL declare, no OL.

In 2018 LSU had 1 OL and one DL declare (not counting Valentine, as he was dismissed).

In the 2018 draft the line results for declared juniors were:

LSU
Weathersby --- undrafted
Key --- 3rd round

Alabama
Payne --- first round

2017 draft
Alabama
Robinson --- round 1

LSU
Godchaux --- round 5

So tell me, why are juniors leaving early hurting us so badly but not hurting Bama?

I agree with you. When your defense holds them to 9 points with 2 minutes and change left in the 1st half you have to expect that with some semblance of offense we make that a game.

A team like Clemson does have a chance.

Our D couldn't get off the field. Simply making a first down or two keeps it within reach at the half. A score or even a couple field goals makes their butts pucker at the half.

We need a better offense. Steve can only call the game with the hand he is dealt. We need more talent on the lines and more playmakers overall, including at QB. As much as I love Burrow he is not going to get it done against Bama.

It's unfortunate that over the years we have the reputation as a shitty qb school. That goes back a decade.

With as many players as Saban gets out of Louisiana, he is going to try to make a statement every single time.

Again, this is the Miles way of thinking. Except Miles at least produced some kind of results. SE has produced absolutely 0. He is so lost when it comes to what Alabama does on defense it's ridiculous.

No....it is.

People want to give Steve a pass because he’s a good guy, but the truth is his track record as an OC isnt good and shocker...he’s still not a good OC.

Offensive scheme is a BIG problem. Look at Alabama’s games this year. ATM and Ark put up some points (23 and 31). Even USL scored 10. ARKANSAS STATE for Chissakes scored on Ala. Zero points in 2 home games is beyond unacceptable. Orgeron must hire some fresh blood on the offensive side of the ball. If he doesn’t his days are numbered.

I don’t know a successful team with a weak offensive line. There are things you can do and try, having success is a different story. How much success is Canada and Petrino having this year?

Who has been successful against bama period? Teams like Ohio State, Au, and Clemson have had talent close to bama when they had success. Au has the same coach as last year, let’s see how well he schemes against bama this year.

They aren’t going to allow O to hire his 3rd OC in 3 years. O hitched his wagon to Steve for better or worse.
