lsualum, if you are right and she can go 10-6 in SEC I am good with keeping her and again see much promise when she was hired..but I do disagree with you on this, no way we go 10-6 IMHO

as for examples, I am not an "insider" but do have a few things that may indicate laziness and arrogance..all, I mean all (including a 4 year old "new" lockeroom, coaches offices, colors on wall) were changed on her orders, we had a great tradition-why change it? Changed name of booster club (why?), did not fire or even suspend assistant coach (male) who was charged with public intoxication and groping females in a downtown btr bar, and this last one I have only heard, do not know, but hear she associates with basically no one in AD, she has no friends in any of other sports, no one likes her...she is from UT and thinks she is better.. my bottom line she has not won enough and this year was a total embarrassment, she has lost the fans (including me a 14 year season ticket holder)...

Is the salary really that big of a deal? In order to be the best we have to pay like the best. Of course with a large salary come expectations so holding her to that standard is fair. But it's not like we are hurting for money and at the time it was a great hire.

Holy crap...where do you people keep pulling this number out of the air? Do you even internet??

quote:

Caldwell, whom LSU hired away from a $350,000 salary at UCLA, will make a $700,000 base and could make as much as $550,000 in bonus money, including $50,000 in academic incentive compensation.

quote:

The more Caldwell wins, the more that investment will be. A Southeastern Conference regular season championship will earn her a $50,000 bonus. A SEC Tournament title will garner another $50,000. So will a NCAA Tournament appearance. A finish in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament will mean another $50,000.

A Final Four appearance will give her $50,000. Winning a national championship will mean $100,000.

Being named SEC coach of the year by a vote of the league coaches will grant her $50,000 and winning a national coach of the year award will mean another $100,000.

Sir, please get out of here with that wonderful logic and rational thinking. Such behavior is not welcome in these parts...

You would swear that part of her salary was coming from some of the poster's beer money.

That hardly shows a steady decline.

Wow! You're living in the Bizarro World. FEWER WINS every year, coupled with MORE LOSSES every year is the very definition of a steady decline!

do we have more injuries than other teams?

This year, yes. Moncrief, Mitchell, Jones, Deemer all being hurt and missing significant time is above and beyond the norm for any team.

Was Ballard an injury?

Nope. It wasn't. Ballard had some off the court issues. Nikki actually could have kept her and dealt with her all year if she had wanted, but she chose to cut her loose. If you ask me, it takes some balls to cut your SEC Player of the Year candidate unless you absolutely have to.

Also, how can Amichia leaving school abruptly in October to go home be automatically attributed to the coach?

she is also known to be very arrogant and lazy.

I hear this a lot. It seems to be one of those things that someone saw once on a message board and just ran with. Cite some examples of what you are talking about.

how confident are you she would go 10-6 next year,

I am very confident we hit 10-6 or better next year. I like the lineup of Moncrief, Jackson, Neubert, Mitchell, and Hyder, with plenty of bench players who got experience this year.

If she can't show great progress and make the tournament next year, then it's time to part ways. I don't think the cupboard is as empty as some of you make it out to be.

LSUGrad9295, you've covered everything I was about to.

Let me also add that I'm confident the team can go 10-6 next season as well. The question is, can we expect better than 10-6 in the years to come? That........unless recruiting picks up............I'm not sure about.

$700,000 is fair and in fact for a top tier school low, I never had an issue with the $$$, Women's basketball is not football, baseball or gymnastics the salaries are different...we are and should be ready to pay the going rate..and it's not $1M, don't know where some of you get this from!

I can...UCLA didn't make an attempt to keep her...hell,they probably threw in money. Caldwell was one of PHS top Asst's at UT , and Caldwell never got a sniff when PHS retired...just like most of Aleva's hires, atrocious. Alleva got lucky with Torina, after the Alabama fiasco.

Lets stop bitching about the salary, yes she gets paid a lot. But at major schools especially LSU, we will pay a lot to get results. Whoever is in charge of contracts at LSU is a complete moron, we give extensions way to quickly and give raises for no reason.

Had we gotten $700,000-worthy results from Coach Caldwell, the bitching about her salary would have died out years ago. In light of her poor performance, it is understandable and valid that people complain.

I mean next season you have to hope Moncrief can stay healthy. We won't know how good these transfers are until they play.

I doubt we go from 3-13 to 10-6 or better, I mean come on people. Yes I expect us to be better due to more players, hopefully Moncrief can be back for good but we have a lot of unproven players. Neubert is not bad but she is not a game changer, same with Chloe Jackson. Although they definitely will provide a lot more offense then the current players.

Looks like she did well with players already on the team... but maybe can't recruit or coach worth a flip?
