quote:How is it Not? This a huge OOC game for both programs. Probably the most important aspect of this game is for recruiting in Texas (and to some degree, in Louisiana). Elite recruits want to play for dominant programs.
Why is fricking Texas the new measuring stick of LSU football?
I think you are well aware that Texas will get their arse handed to them in Austin. and as an inveterate O-Basher, you want to piss on his parade by planting tha narrative that the Texas game is, "No big deal"
Wrong! The Texas game is a very big deal!

For starters they play in a different conference.
They have a QB in Ehlinger who is very good, he is no slouch.

It's a good OOC game, anyone will agree but it isn't the measuring stick of LSU football, which is what that poster was asking. He wasn't saying the game wasn't important.
There are teams in the SEC that we'll face this season that, depending on how those games go, will affect LSU's season. Conference games matter more.

It is also important on this board as a face-to-face between Orgeron and the crying boy (the HC so many O-Bashers so desperately wanted).
The Herman Humpers would probably be smart to lay back and let this game pass into history (instead of trying to sell the silly narrative that this game "isn't all that important").

Where did I even mention Herman?
Look closely, I didn’t mention his name at all. That’s all you.
I stated it’s a good OOC game but it isn’t the measuring stick. That’s what was being discussed. Goldrush asked, you asked how can it not be and here we are. That has been pointed out to you by several other posters in this thread and you continue to dismiss it.
No question. But it isn’t the measuring stick regarding LSU football.
In conference games are more important than OOC games. I’m stunned that your “sources” didn’t inform you about that.

I'll repeat...
It is a very important game for recruiting in Texas (and for recruiting nationwide where Texas and LSU are battling for the same recruits).
It is also important on this board as a face-to-face between Orgeron and the crying boy (the HC so many O-Bashers so desperately wanted).
The Herman Humpers would probably be smart to lay back and let this game pass into history (instead of trying to sell the silly narrative that this game "isn't all that important").
Who cares what you mentioned? This is an important game, period. The fact that you are oblivious to that point is not surprising.

Burrow will be third round
With the year he's about to have 3rd round is doable but 4th is more likely.

I just said there’s no question about it. Go up 3 posts.

You have a strange definition of the word fact because I’ve stated three times to you that it is important.
Back to the topic that got onto this, it isn’t the measuring stick of LSU football. You’re acting like the entire season hinges on that one game and it hardly does. Sleep soundly, you’ve stated that we blow them away so I don’t know what you’re getting so bent out of shape over.

Doesnt the Heisman trophy winner usually go 1st round?

Here are the stats I see for Joe this season. How far apart are we on these? How are you seeing comp %, yards, and TD to INT ratio?
1) Burrow will at 68%+ completions. 70%+ is not unlikely
2) He'll throw for 3500+ yards. 4000+ is not unlikely
3) He'll have a 5 to 1 or better TD to INT ratio.

I'd disagree to an extent. It will be the first game against a quality opponent with our "new" offense. It will be a measuring stick to how much the offense is improved and how good the team is this season. It is also a good barometer on how good the D is because Texas is going to test Aranda's defense. Ehrlinger is a good QB and they have the ability to put up a lot of points.
That being said, I think the Oct 12 game vs Florida will be the first real test of our offense since Texas is replacing so many defenders.

quote:probably. I'm not a fan of that hype-fest. If they awarded it AFTER the season, it would be of interest (they awarded it art the end for decades).

But as is is now, it is a substantial distraction to players who should be buried in prep for the playoffs, not answering the same dumb questions for weeks.

We're in the same ballpark. He threw for almost 3000 behind a non existent offensive line. Another offseason in the weight room and working on footwork and just maybe the offensive line becomes competent. If that happens the sky is the limit for this team.

Master of deflection.

Honestly, I'm starting to enjoy it. Who else on this board can seamlessly change the subject to Herman, then when asked about Herman says "who cares if you mentioned it" then goes right back into the original point? I feel like I have a live, front row seat to the Picasso of trolling here. Truly impressive.

Hate to break this to you Loonie, but the Herman vs Orgeron aspect of this game isn't going away just because the Circle Jerks (major Herman Fluffers) want it to.
In all fairness, who can blame them for wanting to go away.
