Is there no leadership whatsoever among these students promoting an end to STTDB? Is it that unanimous that there isn't any organized effort against it? Is there even a Facebook page?

And I still cannot fathom how some people still think its just about "cursing during a game" or other de minimis argument.

As far as an organized effort promoting the vulgarities, in defiance of the Admin, Get a clue, students. What do you think you're winning? What's the prize?

Shouting expletives from the student section didn't start in 2005. The administration just decided they were going to start banning songs to "combat" it.

One of my very good friend's dad attended LSU in the 70's, and they cheered plenty of vulgar stuff. Pretty sure "assholes" during Tiger Rag has been around for 20+ years, and thats what started all of this nonsense.

This whole situation is ridiculous. By banning songs and telling the students, "you can't do that," the administration is only emboldening the student section's behavior to act more ridiculous.

They should add all the songs back in the rotation and play "Neck" constantly. After the 20th time hearing it in one game, the students would get sick of it and the chants would end.

This, it's classic child psychology. The best way to motivate a child to do something is to order them not to do it. The best way to get them to stop is to embrace them doing it and encourage it until they get sick of it and it's no longer rebellious and fun. The entire appeal of STTDB is it is an act of rebellion, a stupid futile gesture in the face of a reactionary LSU administration that treats the students like criminals and children. Because the administration treats them like juveniles, they behave like juveniles and because they behave like juveniles, the administration treats them even more like such. The tiger continues to chase its own tail to no end.

All because somebody complained about "Hahahahahaha. Assholes! Assholes!" during Tiger Rag.

I was a student when it was banned. There was a very negative reaction, including people pointing out that its not like this just started.

I'm not condoning dropping F-bombs in Tiger Stadium, but I'm also not condoning suddenly getting all sensitive. LSU students have cheered far worse over the years.

The student section will just do this to another song. There's really no point in banning the songs when they're going to find a way to chant vulgarities anyway.

Can't wait until they do this with "Malaguena"

ITS not it's which means it is. So what you wrote translates to "The tiger continues to chase it is own tail to no end"

Yes and in the 90s when I was there it was "kick their arse", all of which pale in comparison to STTDB, don't you think?

I sit in the NEZ near the student section. I have never paid attention to the words of any of these chants until some puritanical bluehair complains about it and gets a song banned.

It's the perfect storm of Baptists with a stick up their arse and LSU looking for any excuse to minimize the band and pipe in more recorded music.

Agree completely. But, I think STTDB is a result of trying to PC the student section, not because students are any more irresponsible than they were when I was a student in the 00's, or you in the 90's.

i loved the taunting of florida with the chomp and "it sucks to be a florida gator" probably the most fun ive had in the student section since they banned neck after 2011

Yeah, cause that was funny and spontaneous.

The other thing...not so much

This is what these morons don't get. It isn't about cursing or using expletives. There is a difference between cheers like:

"Assholes, Assholes!"
"Geaux to Hell Ole Piss, Geaux to Hell"
"Kick their arse"
"Ref you suck"

and
"Suck a Tiger D*** B***"
"F**K you Saban"
"F**K you Tebow"
"Eat SH*T, F**K you"

How the hell can these idiots compare those to one another?

Loved the "Chomp". The cameras caught it and the CBS guys mentioned it.

I don't think any song should be banned. It causes a bigger reaction, and students are going to push back more. Even students that weren't involved in yelling their own profane lyrics will be tempted to do so now in protest with another song.

How these students behave in public reflects on what they learned in private which is in the home.
Hollywood, what passes for music now, is morally bankrupt. If every parent allows a morally bankrupt model to replace their own values, the values they should be teaching their kids, no amount of banning, regulations, etc., will matter.

Maybe we should all sing 2-4-6-8 who do we appreciate. Is that nice enough? Who cares about All of the lights? The only reason it liked it being played is because we could chant STTDB to it. Now we'll find another song. it's not hard.

The piped in music gets the crowd going better anyway. And if you don't believe that you're an idiot because half the stadium can barely hear the band anyway.

Fact is students are becoming more and more like children every year. Used too be at 18, while you still weren't totally an adult, you still weren't a kid anymore. Now we call 22 year olds "kids" because that's how they act.

Doing silly, goofy or stupid stuff isn't mature, but its about getting attention way more now than anything. That is exactly what kids and attention whores tend to do, which correctly describes the students' section.

I agree with geauxgurt....big difference in what is being said now. I personally could care less what the students are yelling....I might even join in BUT..... when there are young kids around (including my own) I'd prefer they not hear that.

I will say though it's taken away from the TS experience with all the banning and what not....

Your mother must be so proud of you. Simplest solution to this is to move the band and put microphones attached to the PA system up next to them. Make them loud enough to drown out burgeoning geniuses like yourself.

That"s stupid. Nobody but the students even know what is being said. Now they're just going to say it to everything.

I was a student from 67-71. Go to hell Ole Miss and fire Mac were about as strong as it got as far as a group cheer. I'd heard about the Rice deal, what comes out of a Chinaman's arse, but never heard it in the stadium. STTDB is ridiculous. Nobody over 15 years old should want to chant or listen to that crap. Could be the quality of students at LSU these days.
