I see that the groupthink on that very, very short Cecil Collins career is that he was better than Kevin Faulk. He wasn’t. He is just another figure in the storied history of LSU fans “coulda, shoulda, woulda happened mentality”... which lifts that figure above people who actually DID. The guy had a really good FOUR GAME run. He doubled his game total in the NFL (8) and averaged about 60 yards a game and was given the ball 20 times per game. Cecil basically had three big games against Miss State, Auburn, and Akron. Kevin was better at both levels. Higher avg per rush, more yards, receptions, special teams contributions, blitz pick ups/blocking, and generally a better teammate. Hell, in Cecils fourth and last game at LSU, Kevin stepped right back in after Collins got hurt and went on to have a better rush avg, and a solid 148 yard day.
Anyone that revises history to say that Collins was better than Faulk with the bullshite extrapolation of that flash in the pan three weeks loses any credibility, imo
ETA; not aiming this at the OP or anyone in this thread... just wanted to fit this rant in somewhere

Cedric Donaldson was a monster that game.

Cedric Donaldson
He’s sometimes totally forgotten about. He was a stellar CB before DBU was a thing.

Alan Faneca is the unsung hero of that game... blocked more or less the whole Florida team on the option TD run.
Being a kid growing up in the 90s...that night was the best I had ever seen.
Auburn 2 years before was best to that point. 93 Alabama was cool, but it was just one game..wasn't really building on anything.

Sorry about that. Fat fingered the downvote.

My favorite game I saw in person.
Also enjoyed Auburn 2001, the Illinois Sugar Bowl, and Bama 2000.
