I made it a point to watch the other college quarterbacks on todays college replays. I noticed the the majority of them dropped back much quicker that JJ. The all seem to get the ball of in a shorter peroid of time. When they would feel the pressure from the pass rush they would step into the pocket. I realize that our line play has been less than desirable but compared to other quarterbacks JJ seems to take longer to throw the ball. Many of them appeared to be able to find the second and even third receiver if their #1 wasn't available. Is the problem JJ or is it coaching? Is this kid getting the coaching he needs to compete or is he better suited for another position. He has a very strong arm but lacks many of the other mechanics displayed by other good college quarterbacks.

You must of missed Colt McCoy looking like a freshman yesterday.

I saw Colt. His pocket presents and quarterback skills make JJ look sick. I coached high school football and for several years. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see JJ has flaws that need to be corrected.

Thanks coach. Colt is also a fricking senior that looked like shite. How do you explain that? Is it possible that JJ may develop some better skills with experience?

JJ takes too many steps back. he is like 11 yards behind the line when he stops. All of our plays start too far back from the line. Coaches are lame for not realizing this and fixing JJ's actions.

Agreed. Having JJ drop back out of the pistol is just stupid. Everyone has been screaming that he drops back so far out of the shot-gun but it's the pistol. He has to drop back some but not a 7-step drop. I really have to have faith in our coaches that things will get much better this weekend. Or at least, I can really, really hope.

If you coached high school it indicates you have a college degree. Do you know a talented QB has "presents" in the pocket and that all QB's have "presence" to some degree. Good grief, people! Let's have some pride in ourselves when we post!

I don't know call in and ask coach miles. They may let you through with your coaching credentials and all.

Yes, most good quarterbacks have a certain amount of pocket presents. But all athetes need coaching. That is why not all quarterbacks become good quarterbacks. Others may have better coaching. That is why they need coaching to correct areas of their game that can not see. Even Tiger Woods has coaches to help him with the blind spots he can not see.

I think one of JJ biggest problems is that once hes under pressure his sight of the receivers is gone.

Well, you saw some pretty mediocre QB play, didn't you? Saturday's games impressed me so well that I wore LSU gear all day long today.

His pocket presents

You make yourself look like an idiot when you obviously fail to realize that QBs are not unwrapping gifts but instead having PRESENCE in the pocket!! Keep it going toolbag!

Have you ever made a error typing? Of course not your perfect. Mistakes are only for those that have actually done something.

Yes, all the time. Not twice in the same thread though.

So JJ is making mistakes, he is young and learning as most all young quarterbacks will do. You are a coach you should know this.

Maybe you could fix the Qb situations at Fla and Ala. and Ole Miss. Is it me or have most of the high profile QB's been disappointing this year. Snead has looked horrible. Tebow probably will never play QB at the next level. Arkansas may have the best QB in the league this year.

Yes, JJ is young but in any part of life, if someone is not getting the job done you have to make changes.
