On a weekend when we needed some shut down starting pitching more than ever, we got two great starts. Not only did they win the series for us, likely locking in a regional host, they gave us a chance to have enough quality arms to pitch tomorrow and have a chance at the sweep.

What they did these first two games was HUGE.

Marceaux was lights out tonight. I didn’t get to see all of Walkers game, but he was throwing very well too. We certainly needed these wins, and hopefully will go for the sweep tomorrow. Hilliard?

Great coaching job by PM. Two games two runs and timely hitting.
Man I wish Hill could get healthy, just for him. I know he would love to be out there.

Hilliard?

I think it's see how far Hilliard and Fontenot can take you. If they carry us through the 6th/7th, I think you can see Peterson for 2 and Hess for 1.

What Walker and Marceaux gave us absolutely set us up to have a chance for our best possible scenario to play out tomorrow.

I agree. If we can get Fontenot to show up and Hilliard is feeling better, and then going 6-7, then Hess and Peterson could definitely finish it off strong.

What could have been this season. We may see it yet. Its so good to see the young pitchers pitch to their talent level. What performances.

What could have been? Every goal we hoped to accomplish is still very much in front of us.

They were both outstanding, and Marceaux, for the first time since probably opening weekend, finally showed his stuff. I was actually not impressed with his stuff, even as he got through 5 one run innings at Arkansas. It just seemed liked he was getting by. Tonight, his stuff looked like the guy he is supposed to be, and that was great to see.

My one disagreement, is that I don't think this locks in a regional. I think we need two more wins. But this team is looking good to be able to do that, and then some.

Well, excluding being conference champions.

It almost certainly does.

LSU now has 17 SEC wins. Winning tomorrow and finishing with 18 would absolutely make us a stone cold lock.

LSU is locked into a 5th place SEC finish. The top 4 will likely be national seeds. The SEC will have more than 4 host sites anyway. LSU is next in line.

LSU now has 19 wins against top 50 RPI. Only 3 other teams in the nation can say this.

LSU's SOS will be among the best in the nation when the season finishes.

LSU's RPI, when combined with everything listed above, will be plenty good enough to host.

SEC Tournament is still next week.

Now, I don't think we have a chance in hell of coming from Tuesday to win it, but I also don't care if we don't.

Simply finishing top 5 in the SEC is not a lock for a host. If they were to lose tomorrow and Tuesday, they would be 34-23, with a poor road record. That isn't a lock. I think a win tomorrow and a win on Tuesday is close to a lock.

The SEC is going to get a lot of teams in, but it's top heavy. After the top four, everybody else is kind of average, with LSU being the lone team who has the potential, and SEC record that is worthy of host discussion right now. So saying that because there will be four national seeds that there will therefore be more host teams, is not necessarily the case.

We have top 50 wins, and some really bad losses. Any sport that has a committee selecting teams, will pay extra attention to road record. That is where I don't think a team with a 34-23 record can count themselves as a host lock, should LSU lose the next two.

Now, I hope you're right, but I also would prefer not to count on you being right. It would be much better to take care of business.

Well we will just have to disagree. Nearly every metric used to judge teams has LSU near the top.

It also helps that some of the bubble host teams have not done so great recently either, including Ole Miss this weekend.

I think if LSU doesn't win another game they have a good shot at coming in at 14-16, unless some of the other bubble host get scorching hot over the next week.

If LSU wins 2-3 more by the time the SECT is done they will be in the 10-12 seed range.

The great pitching from Walker and Marceaux was absolutely Top Drawer just when we needed it. The Hitting from top middle and the bottom have been constantly improving with Beloso,Garza leading that hitting.Starting to come around BAWS. I think if we keep this up and get back Hill and Cole We host a regional and WIN!!
