I don't think you know what this means. Mainieri isn't trotting Walker out on a Tuesday to pitch 80-90 pitches, 7 innings, etc.

They keep him on a strict pitch count, situational batters, and call it a day.

It's a hell of a lot more effective in keeping him sharp than just long tossing or playing catch.

C'mon man.

Out of curiosity, what exactly are you tying to prove in this thread?

He hasn't pitched a meaningful game since regionals.

Mainieri wants to see how effective Walker is since pitching so he tosses him in a situational game. He's sore, thanks to the layoff.

Are you ever sore after not working out for a week or two? It's the same damn thing.

What he doesn't know, so that we know not to listen to him on any subject in the future.

The risks far far outweighed the rewards. Its Omaha. Additional work not needed.
I have proof, he is overly sore. Prove differently

frick that's a really dumb point you're trying to prove. Good to know I don't ever have to take any of your posts re: baseball seriously going forward

It's the craziest thing. Walker pitches every weekend of the season and we hear nothing about him being sore.

The one time he skips a weekend, hes sore a few days after some mound work.

I mean seriously. Would you rather him not pitch for 2 weeks and go out there cold and experience soreness in an actual CWS game and have to get pulled early? Pitchers throw bullpens between starts. Is this your first time following baseball? If so, I'll ease off

No man, I would it NOT have been well into the week of Omaha. That's ALL.

And he was NOT in the bullpen. He was an amped up kid, ready for Omaha, over throwing in a simulated game.

We need short rest emergency stuff in Omaha. He is now eliminated as a short rest guy. Just watch

You need to stop posting. You look dumber after each post.

Congratulations for being one of the dumbest posters of the week.

I like Cartwright's take, but fact is CPM didn't have to say a word about it. Instead he tells Louisiana press Walker had "unusual soreness". It's gamesmanship but can't really blame the press for reporting it. They just went a little overboard with the headlines.

You do realize pitchers throw bullpen sessions every week during the season between starts.
