Wake Up!!!!! Spring Practice Starts Today

Seems like yesterday that we became champs and I am still dancing in the Clouds. The boys are back on the dirt today, and I am especially interested in the new faces on the OL and LB, and who emerges as the early backup at QB.

Excited to see what bo does with an entire new group at linebacker

I think they would be on grass. Also I’m not waking up and getting hyped about something I can’t watch.

I’m with you, Geauxst! It’s just practice, but it’s still great to hear the stories coming out of camp.

Yeah, we can’t be there, but Cody Worsham should have some good material for the “Hey Fightin’” podcast.

Hard to believe. I’m still basking in 2019 memories.
Of note this spring is how loaded this team is at DLine now and how thin they are at WR and Oline.
Only 6 scholarship WR’s on spring roster with Lee’s move to Lber. Even adding 3 newcomers in fall will leave LSU at 9 for 2020. That’s low considering all the 3 and 4 wide sets used now.
Only 9 scholarship Olinemen available for spring with Rosenthal out. When he comes back and the 3 newcomers are added that will put them at 13. Still too low for good roster management. 15-16 is ideal imo.
ILB would be thin this spring if not for moving 3 guys there (Lee, Brooks, Thornton). If Stark’s returns along with 2 newcomers (White and Sampah) LSU will be fine there. I also like LSU’s chances of bringing in the Cox kid as a transfer starter.

Where I'd agree o-line and wr are a little thin. On the positive side, those guys get more reps, which is a good thing and will help the o-line probably more than the wr's.
Totally not worried about the receivers, we know what Chase, Marshall and Mcmath can do and Palmer, Jenkins and Kirklin are quality players and can be productive. Boutte is a really good player coming in.

I am totally not worried about WR. Chase, Marshall, Racy, Palmer and Boutte will be a freshman sensation, and more. Gilbert will be like Jimmie Graham in his Saints days. Lots of development at OL and LB.

Should be fun to watch the QBs throw today. no pads, so not much to see other than that. I loved watching Brennan throw in warmups before games last year, and TJ will be similar with his cannon. I'll be interested to see if Peter Parrish has improved his arm strength much, and Max Johnson is probably my favorite to win the backup job this year. The battle for starter when MB is gone starts today, and Caleb Williams coming in next year would make it all kind of interesting. when's the last time we had a true freshman at QB other than that one Brandon Harris game? I guess it'd have to be Jordan Jefferson when he closed the season out in 2008. My god we've come far as a program.

All im worried about is Myles progression that's going to make or break this team forget all the LB talk

Let's get after it boys. We got a title to defend!

I watched Myles hit that quick RPO slant several times last season in backup duty. He was money with it.
I expect the running game to be bad arse this year with Curry being our sledge hammer, Price being our all around back that works a lot in pass protection and Emery being our third down pass catcher and our speed sweep back. The RPO game will flourish because teams will have to account for our improved rushing attack.
Joe had a saying, “if the defender ain’t looking, the receivers are open and I am throwing the ball. If the coaches don’t want me to throw it, don’t call it. “
I hope Myles isn’t timid and he slings the living frick out of the ball. LSU was the king of the bomb and master of the deep strike last year. We ripped their guts out with the deep strike. I hope Myles slings it and carries on the new tradition of LSU gutting teams with the deep ball, gutting teams up the seams.

Myles has the physical tools to throw the ball but he has to prove he can be elusive in the pocket. Burrow was stupid in that regard.
The play calling also has to stay aggressive. LSU’s offense was so dangerous because down and distance rarely mattered. They’d call anything from anywhere on the field at anytime in the game.

Peter Parish not at practice today
Posted on 3/7/20 at 11:38 am to wildtigercat93
Peter parish seems like a terrible evaluation on LSU staff part

"Peter Parish has entered the transfer portal"

Meh?!?!?!?! Why are you on this board??
Posted on 3/7/20 at 11:53 am to CP3LSU25
Yea I think they rushed the offer after a decent camp day without pads on.
Posted on 3/7/20 at 12:54 pm to CP3LSU25
I may end up wrong but I don't think Parrish will be a starter for LSU.
