LSU was definitely playing softball in the mid 90's. The team plus the coach were mostly lesbians. I forgot the female coach's name but she was extremely muscular and rugged. She used to squat by first base and spit her tobacco. In the off season the coach worked construction and she usually worked on the roof. The SEC wasn't softball conscious until South Carolina came on board. Many SEC schools didn't even have womens softball programs. Title 1X and Carolinas winning program caused the SEC to recognize softball as a major sport for women. Damn, I wish I could remember that LSU softball coach's name. That coach had more male hormones than most men have.

Apparently you do or you wouldn't have clicked on the thread. You didn't think Yvette Girouard was our football coach did you?

Yep, and DeDe needs to fired too.

I'm not calling for Girouard to be fired, but the LSU softball program does not need to make it a habit to lose to in state schools in the tournament. Also, Florida and Bama have flown by LSU to the top of the SEC in the last few years. Let's get back on track and make it to Oklahoma City again.

(OKC is where the WCWS is, isn't it?)

The team was reinstated in 1997 after being dormant since the 80s. Kathy Compton was the first coach, I believe she came from Nicholls. (?)

YG seems to do a good job of training assistants. The Alabama coach and the ULL coach are both former assistants, I believe. They both beat her regularly now. It's interesting to look at the rosters and see that ULL's roster is made up almost entirely of Louisiana and Texas players. LSU has mostly'high profile" recruits from out of state....CA, FL, CT, etc. Yet, the local girls seem to whip that arse when it's really counts.

Yep, Ull recruits Louisiana and pushes really hard in east texas. Lots of good recruits come out of east texas.

Yeah, forget about the other 3 before that for ULL.

Yeah, forget about the fact that LSU started playing softball in 1997. And since that time LSU has won 5 regular season SEC championships and 5 SEC tournament championships, more than any other school in the conference. LSU has also appeared in two Women's College World Series and 10 NCAA tournaments.

So if you want to compare apples to apples (or tradition to tradition) being as LSU didn't field a team before 97 (except for 3 yrs back in 79' or so), I'd say that since LSU has fielded a softball team, they have just as many appearances in the CWS as ulala AND (this is the kicker that makes the ulala faithful scream) they have their coach! So apparently she also thought the LSU program was better-all around including paying coaches-than her beloved ulala.

If LSU softball fans are happy being an also ran in the SEC then keep Yvette.

If LSU fans are happy being whipped by ULL then keep Yvette.

If LSU fans are happy to make a regional then keep Yvette.

Because lord knows when assessing the direction a program is heading the coaches career record is the only criteria that matters.

You are a moron. Really, The ULL faithful scream for Yvette after beating Yvette the last 2 regionals they played in BR. Yep, the ULL faithful are really upset right now about not having her. Do you realize you are trying to comapare and say LSU is as good as the so called pathetic step child with 1/10 the budget, half the enrollment, and sub par facilities as LSU.

Since 2005

UTenn 3 WCWS appearances (0 before 2005)

UF 2 WCWS appearances (0 before 2007)

UGA 1 WCWS appearance (0 before 2009)

Bama 4 WCWS appearances (2 before 2005)

LSU 0 WCWS appearances and 2 regional losses to ULL (6-7 year drought from last WCWS appearance)

I think it's safe to say teams are passing us by.

So we're outpaying ULL. What is LSU paying her?

It seems ridiculous to be losing regularly to a smaller school when we provide better facilities, better coach's pay, and do everything better except win.
