Ford was one of the most highly sought after RB's in LA in a long time. I remember his name being mentioned when he was a junior in high school. The guy is a complete back with power, speed, vision, cutting ability, etc.
He may not have been given his chances to shine as often as he would have liked, but lets remember he is just a Freshman. If Ridley can't go, Ford will have his breakout game and prove why he will be the primary RB next year (if Ridley goes pro).

Failing to get a 2.0 considering the fact that he is probably in a bullshite major, getting all kinds of personal tutoring from professors and help at Cox Auditorium, concessions made for student athletes traveling to away games, and the fact that he goes to LSU (my alma mater and school I love...but not the most academically challenging for a student-athlete to stay eligble)...unacceptable.
this.
i don't feel sorry for athletes that can't hack it in the classroom .. and spare the "how hard they work at their sport and how much time they put into their sport" lines ... the cox academic center greatly softens that blow .. people go to school .. take 15+ hours a semester and then work 40 hours a week to pay next semester's tuition and books ..
Concur.
Weight room records are only so useful. It's how the player utilizes what he has in the field of play. It's the same as 40 yard time. So what if a guy runs a 4.2 or 4.1. How does that translate to his ability ON the football field? Can he turn it on or run a pattern, or catch? Same with weight room development.
So what if he can bench 500 pounds. Can he shake a tackler?

Again, where is this evidence on Ford's vision, elusiveness, cut back ability etc?
Describe some plays in games where he's shown this ability.
He's fast and strong. He can sometimes beat the defense to the corners and use his speed for a long gain.
What I really question is his agility, footwork and vision. I give high marks to Ridley on this, especially for a power guy.

Someone did start a thread of Ridley possibly being ineligible.
Now I see this.

C'mon man! Get your shite together Ridley

What is it about LSU fans on this site that leads to choosing sides with players at the same position? Ridley and Ford are two totally different types of RBs. They both have tremendous talent. Ridley fits the offense Miles wanted to run this season better than Ford. That may not be the case next season, who knows. What I don't understand is the constant bickering about who has better speed, vision, strength ... it's ridiculous. Ridley can pick up a tough three yards for a first down better than Ford. Ford can be more explosive on the perimeter. In the end, if they gain yards and score points for LSU, it's all good.
Oh, and the fact that there is such a wide range of opinions on this topic means that none of US know squat about scouting.

I love Ridley's abilities!
That being said, I truely believe if Ford had gotten all the touches that Ridley did this year he would have had as much or more total yards.
And all you assclowns that are saying speed and strength dont translate to better rb's, than you are just ignorant!

I am guessing that cinches the question of whether Ridley is going to the NFL. He apparently stopped being a student-athlete a little too soon for comfort.

I did. Got whacked. Had 4 people tell me yesterday around 4 pm. Dude was solid. Will miss him.

Doc, please refer to the examples of Ford's carries this year that demonstrate the agility, vision and elusiveness to which you refer. The long touchdown carry against Ole Miss(?) was good timing and great speed, that's all. He didn't have THAT many carries.
I would really like to know what you saw that I didn't ...

So if jj fails his masters in basket weaving then he too could be ineligible?

love Ridley, but if this a cheating or effort deal, then that pisses me off. How can the leader of the team not take care of business in the classroom. This will leave a stain on his legacy. Oh well, glad we have a couple of weeks to get Ford and Ware ready for the game. Could be a blessing in disguise for next year if they play well and we win.
Carl, in listening to Les it doesn't sound like anything scandalous. It sounds more like an admin. technicality judging by his reference to this being an NC2a issue, not an LSU issue. The mere fact that the school is appealing to the NC2a on his behalf is a positive sign for S.R.

Hey, congratulations to you, LSUmafia, and especially Lester Earl!! This must be a great day for you, maybe the best of the season.
Maybe it will work out as bad as possible for Stevan so you three can really celebrate! A full season of bad-mouthing SR and then this. Its doesnt get any better for the 3 of you, does it?
Party time for you great LSU fans!!

More senior - Ridley
getting yards on big downs- ridley
more experience- ridley
yeah those two things make ridley a better back for this team he has shown he is a better back, ford may be better in time but ridley has been so much better this year
