Blessing in disguise. This is all about getting ready for the MNC run next year. Since it appears that Ridley will go pro, this gives Ford, Ware and others a chance to step up and get ready for 2011.

...yeah, sure , that was "Ridley's" statement .. NOT..

- written up by a PR Pro and "given" to Ridley maybe...

...if he can write that up, don't see how he could have any "academic issues" , certainly not in English !

so ridley essentially fails stat wise relative to the other backs and eye test wise. he's not that good. he played so much this year as outside of Murphy all of his competition was freshmen backs. Every year prior to that save for 2008 with Scott LSU backs had plenty of competition. he speaks well and runs hard with heart so he's awesome i guess.

he is awesome, but that doesn't mean he's the most talented. he's certainly one of the most productive.

that same backup ran for 1000 yds in the NFL, led the Tigers in rushing in 2002, and made an all-SEC team.

Yeah, I still remember DD's game vs IL in the Sugar, he was on fire carrying the ball and in the pass game, was inches from 5-td's in that game. I would argue he was absolutely in the top-3 in the 2000's as is Broussard. That kid was a beast until the multiple knee surgeries and him losing his way.

Is appealling really the right move for LSU? If Stevan was not putting in the effort in class, then shouldn't he be allowed to fail? Come on, we all know these guys gets a ton of help and they aren't talking the hardest of courses; passing with a C- should be achieveable with little effort. At what point do we stop letting student athletes think they are above the rules and don't have to be accountable for their grades? He does seem like a good kid however.

Ridley's yardage and YPC is especially impressive when you consider that defenses packed the box and dared us to throw. AND, beyond that we were very predictable in our play selection.
Ridley's not Superman, but he impressed me when I didn't expect him to...

LSU wouldnt be appealing it if they didnt think there was a chance it would be changed. Therefore, it's probably something more than your average mid-term flunking.

Well said! I agree completely. Really hope he gets to play in the Cotton Bowl.

Wonder if it has to do with hours completed/ progress towards completion of degree?

If Ridley changed majors or got an incomplete that could throw off the amount of hours he completed/ progress towards degree completion, and thus make him potentially ruled ineligible.
