4 SEC teams
1 ACC
1 PAC 10
1 Big 12

Just like real life we beat up on one another and they have no conference competition.

Another proud Alum. The Golden Band blew the competition away. I loved the arrangment and the way Tiger Rag was worked into it.

My thoughts on each band:

LSU: played well together. I thought it was gonna be a marching thing but seeing the other bands, I was impressed with the horn flashes. Plus the Golden Girls were on point. Les Miles in the end was a nice touch. The arrangement was top notch with the "Hold That Tiger" parts.

USC: they sound like they got the music that morning and some were even playing with the sheet music. Boring arrangement. Sounds like they just got the music from the movie.

Auburn: good sound. they def. get shown up with the costumes against the Golden Girls. The band just stood and played the whole time. Boring video.

Florida:

Texas: I liked the arrangement. Sounded pretty good. That was a big drum! Those uniforms though...

Georgia: I like the pit but they are a little loud. The band sounds really good though.

Clemson: band sounds weak. Pretty average. Funny they are the only ones who shot their video on their band field.

LSU looks to be the only school that really went all out for this.

I listened to all the bands. LSU had the best balance and intonation. Drum section is a bit echoey indoors but did not detract from the precision. The dotted eighth-sixteenth figures were pretty clean...much more so than the other bands although Auburn and Texas did well placing the sixteenth note properly. We could hear all three trumpet parts and good balance in the low brass. Horns and altos had exceptionally good pitch...not so with any of the other groups represented. Good dynamic contrasts throughout and excellent phrase endings. In spite of all the intricate in-place movements by the players there was no notice of the music suffering at any time. This is difficult! Of course Frank and Linda wisely planned movements which required the least amount of interference with the musical lines. Great band directors...both.

Wickes' band at Florida thirty years ago sounded miles better than it does today. Glad that Wickes is at LSU.

My vote goes to the only Tiger Band! Nice touch adding Les at the end!!!

I was there when they filmed this, and I knew everyone would love it.

I even made a sign too, but ESPN cut it....

They also cut what was in my opinion a FANTASTIC opening shot...they had the Coaches' Trophy set up on the ground with the jib cam next to it. The jib swept up to show the drum major and then rotated to show the entire band setup. It was unreal, and I have NO idea why it was cut.

But yeah, Les made the day. And it's all thanks to Moorhouse. As she said after Les left...

"And I didn't tell any other directors that we're using our coach. Don't want them stealing my idea."

And whoever designed the Golden Girls' outfits should be given a raise.
