there's a restaurant called Sport restaurant and bar across from the Space Needle. heres their website.

also even more downtown is a Fox Sports Grill. Those are probably two of your better options in the downtown/near downtown area.

The weather forecast has really cratered. Looks now maybe like rain on Friday and Saturday - and not too warm.

It's rained like 1 time in the past 7 weeks.

Jersey-how far is the drive from Seattle to Portland? Thought it might be a decent diversion for a day

It's about 180 miles, but I-5 is desperately slow sometimes. Annoyingly, the speed limit doesn't get above 60 until you are like 70 miles south of Seattle, and the traffic for that stretch can be amazingly brutal. Traffic starts to pick up again in Vancouver, WA, just north of Portland. All in all, it's a drive I dread, but if you don't go at rush hour, you should be fine.

"its rained one time in 7 weeks"

One of our group did some research and found that there has been a total of .02 inches of rain on September 5 since 1994.....

Got to Seattle yesterday.Spent the night at Lake Union Courtyard Marriott(GREAT PLACE). Ate dinner at Daniels during happy hour. It's on JT restuarant guide.Sat outside overlooking Lake Union yatch club--UNBELIEVABLE STEAK.

Took bus 194 from the airport to downtown for $1.75. Then got on street car(for free-using tranfer)and took us to Lake Union.

The westin is maybe 2 blocks from westlake bus stop.

BTW THANX to JT and Dawg for all the info.

that street car in lake union is officially the South Lake Union Train... or as the locals say, when in seattle, don't forget to ride the SLUT.

Jersey, I will actually be coming from Vancouver, WA on Saturday AM. How bad will the traffic be? I need time to stop in Tacoma and pick someojne up as well.

If the next front is anything like the present one, it'll be fine.

Comfortably cool with a brief drizzle yesterday evening near campus. Now the sun's out. Nice fall weather. People from LA will enjoy it. It's been pretty hot down there.

Hey Jersey, what is the best way to get a direct route from Tacoma airport to the Westin downtown? Feel free to give many details.

You're doing this all on saturday? Tacoma isn't really a "stop" on the way to Seattle, it's a hefty drive in of itself. Traffic won't be too bad, but it will be a bit slower between seattle and tacoma. You'll want to start from Vancouver very early if you don't want to feel rushed getting around the area (or also if you want to tailgate before the game).

what are you talking about? the I-5 goes straight through the middle of Tacoma on the way to Seattle. depending on where you friend is being picked up from, it shouldn't be bad at all... if he/she is able to meet you at the Tacoma Dome stadium, that's right downtown and a quick off the freeway / back on the freeway exit stop. from Tacoma you're going to want to give yourself an hour to UW and a half hour to deal with pre-game parking though... if it's raining, then add another half hour to the drive time for slower traffic.

I'm gonna be at the Hotel Andra. I read it was in an excellent location to the Pike Place Market and to the docks. We have a boat with 140 LSU fans chartered to leave from the docks around the market.

Birdman-Our group of 10 are staying at the Andra starting Wednesday and Thursday (some are going to Mt. Ranier Wednesday). We'll have to hoist one while we are there-we'll be sporting our colors!
