Well, if no one has been hired. I recommend my father. A 30 year NRCS agriculture engineer and a 3rd generation farmer. He could grow Bermuda in Green Bay in January.

+1.
Your field hasn't looked so great in a while.
tOSU's was pretty bad in 06 as well.

FWIW, I like our turf now that it's been installed.

That's some pitch. Either you are a salesburger, or should be. Problem: Anyone ever ask the players (football, soccer, etc) how they feel about FieldTurf? Ask them about footing, weight distribution, injuries.

There's more to this picture than UT's notoriety.

Hopefully never. We avoided the stuff in the 70s. Real football is played on real grass. Tradition is what makes LSU great, grass is part of that tradition.

IMO an agricultural & mechanical school should NEVER have artificial turf for their football field...

a friend of mine is a professor for the LSU Ag Center .....he says that they could really help out with the turf issue in Tiger Stadium....but the "powers that be" with the athletic department has not consulted with them on the issue

I don't understand that either. I know LSU has issues that alot of schools don't have to deal with, as in being so close to the river and such. But the thing is I can remember a time when LSU had one of the best fields in the country. Their is no reason why they shouldn't now. That being said I agree no AG school should have artificial turf, but if they can't or won't do what has to be done, then they should install field turf.

Its really a sad pathetic situation. This discussion should never be taking place. The LSU administration should be ashamed that the center piece of the one of the most famous stadiums in the country is in this shape.

well only took two pages to throw this line out there. I hate when people use this as an excuse for us to play on the dirt and sand field we have now.

I used to be a traditionalist when it came to this question. Most people's kneejerk reaction to this topic is of sheer disgust, but the more I see the shitty playing surface in TS, the more I agree that it's time to make the switch.

I say, when we enclose the south endzone upper deck, we should go to Field Turf, IMO.

Duh. Typical school Dept. "fiefdom", we know everything, we don't need help. If that's the case why does the turf look like crap?

The down side to artfical turf is it gets HOT in the daytime, also it gets nasty, dirty with sweat, blood etc.

I hear there's a northern football team that has a blue colored turf. If we go with fieldturf, how about a purple turf with gold endzones. Maybe one of you techies can give us an idea what it might look like. Paint program?

A grass field is football. Asking for field turf (that I believe one day will happen)is weak.

At first glance, I thought Boise's field was pretty cool.
By the second time I saw it, it gave me a headache.
