Because he's not used to pitching 50+ pitches multiple times in a weekend. I didn't say his arm would be dead either, but I figured 3 innings would be a good target for him and good for us if he could deliver that which he has.
In last year's tournament, he threw 65 pitched against C Conn, then started the Oregon game a couple days later and only threw one inning.

This guy hasn't pitched yet in the regional. Which usually means we make him look like an All-American for an inning (or 5 like last night).
