Stars don’t matter if you don’t or can’t develop them

Hard for people in BR to accept, but the truth is the vast majority of “5star” and a lot of “4star” high school players do not play college baseball ....so all the colleges are splitting 3 or 2 star talent which doesn’t always pan out as expected

That’s ridiculous. LSU typically signs players that every other school wants.

Other schools will still want the best available of what is leftover...but most of the 5 stars are going to the mlb draft.

Going back to the OPs title...using star ratings like football... according to 247 for 2020 there are 31 5star football players....so equating that to baseballl, those 31 are gone, never attend college

Doesn’t matter. If LSU gets many of the remainder as it should we have a talent advantage over the other programs.

Sure, but when over 300 HS kids get drafted...and then over half sign contracts...that means there are hardly any kids in what would be the baseball rivals 150 going to college...so all the colleges are working deeper down the list, which is harder to predict

No 5 stars honestly. All of the 5 stars signed professionally. Landon Marceaux had the highest high school ranking at 50. Marceaux, Jaden Hill, Cole Henry, C.J. Willis, Nick Storz, Daniel Cabrera, Zack Hess, and Todd Peterson were all ranked in the top 100. I think it's pretty safe to say that those 8 were 5 star recruits out of the high school prospects that actually attended college. The majority of the rest of the roster were 4 stars with a few 3 stars rounding out the roster.

They definitely have a problem with injuries and development, though, because they sure aren't playing up to that talent level collectively.

Via your criteria, most would be "5 stars" don't play in college to begin with.

Seems like we recruit for small ball but try to play gorilla ball. Little guys swinging for the fences.
