Media popularity. SC and Petey are media darlings. They are the Hollywood team.

They are a dynasty and dominating a very tough conference while we struggle in a mediocre conference?

By law, you are to love USC and Pete Carroll, and the fact he has Snoop Dogg on the sidelines. The Trojan way, is the only way to sheath your sword - love all things Trojan.

Its only logical to move a team up, when they give up 36 points and 482 yards against an Average Oregon State.

Don't be such a hater.

Such dominate performances, only serve to enhance the image of this fine USC defense, and team in general.

When Oregon beats them by 14 this coming Saturday, some will expect them to drop in the polls but I expect them to continue to rise, as the finest 1/2/3/4 loss team in the country.

Their losses are but a small irrelevant aberration, to what is clearly the finest team in the land by far.

What's comical about all the USC whining is the fact the two human polls in the BCS didn't move up USC at all. It was the computer polls that caused the jump this week.

But that doesn't stop you guys from saying it's a media thing. Who knows, maybe ESPN runs the computer polls, too.

USC's best win is better than LSU's. I'd also say that ND and Cal are both better than LSU's 2nd best win.
I agree with those that say it does not matter at this point but the schedule strength of LSU and USC are almost identical, their records are identical and LSU lost to a much better team. Not to mention, LSU beat the team that beat USC. I would not have a problem with USC being one spot ahead of LSU in the polls since the numbers are so close but thim being 5 spots ahead of LSU is absurd.

They also have 3 quality wins. Cal, ND, tOSU.

quality means "media favorites" or "traditionally good teams" - not necessarily how good they are this year.

LSU beats Bama and they control their own destiny...sky is the limit

This is correct... We win and we're in the SECCG, WE win there and there is NO USC to talk about.. Just get it done and it is a done deal... SEC winner will be in NCG...

USC is #5 and LSU is #9...

But we control our own NC destiny, USC does not.

I like our situation a lot better.

If we both lost in the same week, we would be higher, but we lost after them, so they are ahead of us. I think they are going to lose big against Oregon. Their d hasn't played as well as they have earlier in the year. Oregon has a decent d themselves. Plus, if we win out, we will be rated higher then them regardless if they lose or not.

If they get to claim Cal as a quality win, then LSU can do the same with Auburn.
