Why is BR in their best interest?
Because it gives everyone in Columbia the ability to focus on recovery. If they decided this early, then those who were not gravely altered by the disaster could make arrangements to attend the game. Gate, or portions of it, go to relief efforts. Facility workers and staff that would work this game elsewhere could stay in Columbia and get their lives back together.
BR was also the easiest location to move it to. May not be the most popular, but it is by far the easiest.

Whats best for his fans is to decide early and give them a better opportunity to come to BR and let those others focus on recovery.
Why is BR in their best interest? There are more than a couple of cities closer to Columbia than BR. Your bias is showing.
What he's saying is if the game will be in BR, make the announcement soon so fans attending the game can make arrangements to come to BR not at the last minute.

Just say you want LSU to have another home game and we can all go home.
of course but if the situation was reversed, I have no doubt alleva would have made the announcement monday and sent the team to columbia to practice on tuesday or wednesday.

Use the National Guard to work a football game? That doesn't sound ridiculous to you?
Uh, how hard is it to direct traffic?

I'm not saying the task is difficult.

exactly. the longer this delays, the more people's schedules get screwed up. obviously the most important thing are the people of SC and post disaster recovery and everything else SHOULD come secondary.

IMO, and many would agree given what's happened to LA years ago, having something else to focus on is a huge help.

And no one else does?
Not as readily available IMO.

Lets face it, at this point, they are more worried about getting the game played than people's schedules.

As long as the game is played they will be able to temporarily focus on something else.

Then that's not a reason to move it.

LSU, Arizona State Move Saturday Game to Tempe

Louisiana State and Arizona State have moved their football game Saturday from Baton Rouge, La., to Tempe, Ariz., because of Hurricane Katrina, with the Sun Devils saying they will donate most of the gate receipts to the relief effort.
"We don't want to interfere with the recovery effort in any way," LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman said Monday.
Because of the many evacuees in the Baton Rouge area, the school does not have full use of its facilities, and "we cannot guarantee housing for anybody," LSU Chancellor Sean O'Keefe said.
No. 5 LSU postponed its scheduled home game last Saturday against North Texas.
No. 20 Arizona State will donate all of its post-expenses gate receipts to the relief effort.

No justification whatsoever to move this game to Baton Rouge. It will not happen.

You don't know that at all.
