Basically asks the question, “What’s the big deal?” College basketball is riddled with this kind of crap and nobody really cares.

The victim is Kentucky and the teams inconvenienced by LSU being good.
Nice to see a bit of balance from USA Today as their worthless writer has been one of the main self righteous pricks.

Thanks for posting this article. It does a good job of summarizing my thoughts.

Counter narrative is working!!

SWEET!! We need more national articles like this. This is a great narrative for us.
For more clicks on thread so more LSU people read it, you should consider changing thread title to:
USA Today: What’s the big deal in this LSU “scandal”?
Or something similar

Could not be more spot on.

Everybody does it, we just happened to get caught.

They nailed it. It’s only the beginning.

Like it!
Seems the only people who care are Yahoo, ESPN, USA Today, Vitale, Alleva Alexander.
They seem to have too much power, and too little knowledge.

This "scandal" is spurred by certain coaches who have strong media connections

The NCAA is not going to touch this investigation with a 10 foot pole... if they do harm to LSU in sanctions outright they will have to go after and chastise the likes of Kansas, Duke, Arizona, North Carolina and you can add Kentucky in there also and I’m sure plenty other schools on the same list for wrongdoings..,those are the darlings of College Hoops and they all bring in alot of money to the NCAA in various ways... The NCAA may force LSU to find a reason to fire Will Wade as payback for what was said on the tape which was described as an “ offer” not specifically the word “ MONEY”, although the firing will be kept secret between LSU and the NCAA...No way does the NCAA touch this scenario after the FBI investigation for obvious reasons...

This whole situation is such a crock. College b-ball is the worst when it comes to pretending the players are “playing school”.

The Feds are after money laundering and bribes they could care less who wins are lose.

but Joe Alleva doesn't take this approach. He basically assures an NCAA/SEC smack down on Will Wade. When your own AD throws you under the buss, you can surely bet on the NCAA/SEC to do the same. Joe Alleva completely mishandled this.

A real journalist finally chimes in!!
Seems more are becoming more brazen to speak out against the hypocrisy and this guy nails it on the head: hard to get mad about a player wanting to get paid when the NCAA and schools they attend rake in millions every year while crying "amateurism and an education". And, "Sanctity of the game". It is only amateurish for the players, or so we were sold/told that lie.
Now we know it is just semi pro balk and Wade possibly took part with every single one of the rest.
Why am I not mad? Because it isn't amateur sports and I know the rest are involved. So I do t give a shite. Give me my coach back and let him bid for these players against the Dukes, Kentuckys, UCLA, Kansas, Arizona of the world. That is the reality whether they claim it isn't or not. Liars, thugs, and thieves (stealing from the players making them massive amounts of money to pretend it is amateur sports and about the student athlete).

I can’t get upset. I can’t care. Adidas paid schools $160 million to get kids in their uniforms, and I’m supposed to be upset that the kids got some money off the books. If that is what I’m supposed to get upset about, I’m sorry. It’s just not going to happen.
100% true.
