USA Today new story on mishandling of misconduct complaints against athletes

Guice and (Drake) Davis included, at least nine LSU football players have been reported to police for sexual misconduct and dating violence since coach Ed Orgeron took over the team four years ago, records show.
quote:
LSU has acknowledged formally disciplining two of the nine athletes: Davis and Peter Parrish, a quarterback accused of raping a woman in a car outside a bar earlier this year. LSU suspended Parrish for one year. The university expelled Davis, but not until July 2019 – four months after his criminal conviction, and 10 months after he’d already left the school.
quote:
Guice’s attorney has said he was never disciplined, and LSU attorney Johanna Posada confirmed in response to a public records request that four other athletes were not disciplined, either. They include running back Tae Provens, linebacker Jacob Phillips, tight end Zach Sheffer, all accused of rape; and safety Grant Delpit, who was accused of recording a woman during sex without her knowledge and sharing the video with others. Provens was arrested; his case remains open, the district attorney's office said. The others have not been criminally charged. The school would not confirm or deny if it disciplined two other players accused of dating violence – defensive linemen Davon Godchaux and Ray Parker – citing privacy interests. Both were arrested. Godchaux was not charged in court; Parker’s case is pending, the DA's office said.

rape charges for Jacob Philips
this is what's got me shook. I never heard of anything involving Phillips before.
Drake Davis, Tae Provens, Zach Scheffer, Peter Parrish, Ray Parker ... these guys all were either dismissed from the team or left quickly on their own.
So I would think LSU is doing things correctly, but clearly we don't have all the facts.

Phillips' story was on TMZ and within hours the DA stated that no charges were going to be filed due to the accuser lacking credibility. It was his ex that tried to claim it

What a fricking hit piece. Ridiculous.

Maybe that’s why I didn’t remember. Nothing there.

This feels like a regurgitated article about Guice which has been covered at length.
Also Davis was suspended before he was expelled and it feels disingenuous to leave that out.
Davis, Parrish, Provens, Parker and Schaffer all left the team or were kicked off.
I feel like throwing out accusation against Phillips and Delpit with 0 follow up is fricking irresponsible at best.
Also leaving out facts like Davis being suspended before he was expelled and Phillips and Godchaux both having their charges almost immediately dropped is bullshite.

Yea I don’t know how you can say LSU didn’t do anything when all these guys were pushed out.
That said, LSU is under new leadership at the university and AD level and a full investigation and inventory of their processes for these cases needs to be conducted.

You do know after Floyd USA Today hired specific journalists to do nothing but hit pieces
Provens had already decided to leave LSU and then got in trouble
That explains why Sheffer and Parker both are no longer with the team
Phillips case went through courts and then he was cleared

This article is complete trash. LSU football doesn't prosecute players for rape. That's the responsibility of the DA.
The majority of players mentioned were booted from the team.
Philips was cleared of any wrongdoing. I'd sue the shite out of USA Today if I was him.

Is that supposed to be damning or something?

He was suspended before he was expelled but they left that out.

Sounds like a lot of cleat chasers on the tennis and volleyball teams
And when they don't get their way they looking for a payday from LSU

Without even attacking the accusers this article is sloppy.
It ignores the actual actions taken against players.
Davis, Parrish and Parker were suspended.
Godchaux was suspended until his charges were dropped.
Provens was arrested and left the team.
Phillips had his charges dropped in 2017.
Comparing LSU to Baylor and Penn State is bullshite.

Who wrote the article? I’m curious if it’s who I think it is. I’m not giving them clicks, though.
