While I agree with you that that is what they probably do, I think it is wrong for them to do that. They should rank teams in order of how good they think they are, not where they think they will finish (after considering strength of schedule). Making it a prediction actually rewards teams in advance for playing weak schedules and punishes teams in advance for playing strong ones. This ends up making a difference because all of the teams with a given number of losses usually end up in very close to the same order they started.

Not so much now. Just saying... I think that speaks volumes.
So, the team had no respect, according to some here, the year they won it all then the next year they started out in the top 5.
This is the first time since then we have been ranked outside the top ten. Yes, that speaks volumes.
Not to mention, in Miles first 3 years we ended the season 5,3,1. Pretty strange that the further he got away from saban he still improved. Yes the last two seasons "sucked", but not everything goes as planned.
