if TJ leaves..with the connections he has made..it would set us back 3 years...people refuse to believe it takes 2 + years to make connections with high school players. the dumb fricks think it's like football/baseball that senior years are the important years. if you donmt connect with a HS player whens he is a sophmore you wont get him

If Alleva makes another shitty hire, it will set us back.
Aside from the fact that we cannot be worse than our last 2 consecutive 20 loss seasons, what makes anybody think we are going to be so much better next year?
The same poor performing players are going to suddenly be great? The # 25th HS player in the country is going to make us great? TJ recruited one top player in 4 seasons? Is that acceptable?

Scott Drew from Baylor would be the right replacement in Trent leaves. He's done wonders in Waco and recruits the area well. In fact, he pulled Tweety Carter from LA and would likely be able to seal the deal Ricardo Gathers, who plays for Tweety's old coach Timmy Byrd.

No chance at happening unless Drew wants to get out of there knowing Baylor may have violations coming, which is pure speculation, but there's a chance of it. I'd love for Drew to come here. I LOVE watching his zone defense when executed well.

BTW, the Scott Drew haters are about to line up in this thread. There's plenty of 'em.

How would you feel about this - a TJ shake down for a raise and an extension with Alleva making some ignorant statement about the wonderful state of the program?

Fightintiger, I see you have Southeastern as your favorite team, but believe it or not at LSU we try to hold our coaches to a slightly higher standard, and winning 5 conference games in 2 years certainly doesn't fit within that.

If Trent leaves, I wish LSU would go get Tim Floyd. But that won't happen because of the recruiting violations.

Not necessarily, wasn't it proven that Floyd really didn't have much to do with what went down?

Because I expect at least a competitive product given the amount of resources Johnson has at his disposal? This team was thrashed by a .500 North Texas team, lost to Nicholls, and needed overtime to beat McNeese. Nuff Said, I don't give a damn what the circumstances are......and if you want to go that route, the bums John Brady had his first couple years would have crushed this years team.

I totally agree with what you're saying about recruiting but trent had cut ties with most big time aau guys in the state and that is bad cause we both know aau is huge

I hear mixed things about how we stand with bridgewater and gathers

Mike Davis would be very solid.

I personally would look at Tim Floyd first. You wanna talk about hiring a coach and not losing ground in recruiting... hell probably even gain ground. He's the guy.

I think Gathers ends up here.

Bridgewater... let's just say we're lucky the middle Bridgewater could have an affect on his decision.

I like Floyd a lot cause he can recruit but he a risk and I say let's take a risk on a proven winner like Chris Collins

I agree. Neither of those guys would be a bad hire. But if a guy like Collins comes here and has success, he'll be back at Duke right after Coach K leaves.

I know that's looking a little far down the road, I'm just saying.

Floyd is the type of guy who would come here and stay here for a long time. He has roots here. He knows the area. He is an unbelievable recruiter in a state with unbelievable talent. I think it would be a perfect fit. He has always wanted this job.

Outside of Mike Brey Coach K's assistants have floundered at major colleges.

I can go with this.

I'm not all up on the fire TJ or hoping TJ leaves. But I do think one of the downfalls of his hire is that he had no recruiting ties to REGION let alone the state. Not to say that he is a BAD recruiter, but it's just hard to start from scratch esp. when there's no-to-limited recruiting talent in the state.

If TJ leaves or after next year doesn't show improvement and gets the boot. I would want someone that has recruiting ties to Southeast/Texas to come in and coach.
