Well now I'm kinda liking the situation. Undrafted free agent to the Saints! Surely no one takes a flier on him with a pick, right? The environment in the NFL is too toxic.

Given the circumstances now that would be great scenario for Saints.
But if hes innocent, LaEl has been royally screwed. Obviously need to solve case first and foremost, but if he had nothing to do with, he should be allowed to beat every member of the BRPD with no consequence.

Did you not read that Jefferson Parish story from 2 weeks ago?

exactly they they were robbing the house. do you think if her house was robbed, or there had been a string of robberies in that neighborhood the week before we would be sitting here having this discussion.

If the Saints want him they are not going to fight it out with other teams on free agency market. Most 7th rounders are worthless anyway so somebody will take him.

Uhhhhhhh. The Saints need OL help. I guarantee they take him if he's there later rounds.

And who else to have better resources on the details going on?

Agree and Saints won't be worried about a pr hit because Collins has had a good local reputation so far.

He might be meeting Monday because the cops may be working on additional evidence that will be ready come Monday. Or, his attorney, who is very influential could've requested to meet on Monday. And, his attorney could also be working on additional evidence.

At this point, La'el's draft status is immaterial.

He's no more likely to go to the Saints than any of the other 31 teams.

First let me say that yes the case takes first priority.

Secondly, let me say that this only applies to him being innocent of any crime.

Now, that being said, if this BS had just cost you millions of dollars I doubt you'd find it so 'immaterial'. If hes innocent, everything hes worked for for the past 10 or so years has been squashed, and hacks like you call it meaningless

also they could have easily swabbed him without him leaving Chicago.

do you really think it's in his best interest to be in chicago right now? seriously, think about it for a second. regardless of his involvement or lackthereof, it would be a completely miserable experience for him to be there, not getting drafted in the first round (or at all), and the entirety of the conversation being the uncertainty of his involvement in a murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend. i mean use your head for a minute.

All i'm say is it is naive to assume, as some here have suggested, that they only reason BRPD wanted to talk to him in BR was so he could submit to a paternity test.

I agree I would not want to be there, and if I was the NFL I would really not want him there. But in that case the being there or not being there is no controlled by the paternity test.

If hes a Free Agent and is a Saint fan, which he may be due to obvious reasons, yes...it does make it a little more likely

If he's innocent he can play in the NFL. Period. He isn't guaranteed a 1st round contract.

If hes innocent, hes automatically lost out on millions. Already. All Im saying is that if you won the lottery, cashed your check and then someone came and took 90% (after taxes) you might describe that situation as a little more than 'immaterial', no?

And the lottery isn't even a good example bc you didn't have to work your arse off to get it

This is potentially life or death for La'el. An NFL contract is meaningless right now.

I stated that everything I'm saying is based on him being innocent.
If you were 'questioned' about a crime you know you had nothing to do with and knowing that you have just been denied millions of dollars at the same time, it wouldn't be meaningless to you. That's all Im saying.

When people say paternity test, they don't mean that is only being used to see who is the daddy. That would be used in concert with questions that could connect someone with a possible motive.
