I'm glad Jim and his wife - and everyone else that evacuated or was rescued - is okay.
I only lived in Baton Rouge during my college years long ago, but BR has some good people. This catastrophe has brought out the best in the people of the city.
God bless everyone who has lost their homes and possessions and God bless the professional and volunteer rescuers and everyone else who has helped in any way.

Charles Hanagriff @C_Hanagriff
Very relieved to report that Jim Hawthorne and his wife Carol have been rescued from their home. Thanks to everyone for their concern.
If that tweet is accurate, isn't it logical to think their residence should have been the first place checked?

Hey, wait just a minute. The story of his alleged "rescue" surfaced minutes after AT&T restored service. Hmmm...

My source tells me they were at Walk-ons with Jack Hunts parents.

Word is that the Department of Athletics has not notified Kevin Ford of the flooding events yet.

Blair's house flooded as well. I'm sure his family is very pleased that they made the move from Georgia.

So happy to hear that Jim and his wife are now safe. But did I read that right that he lived in Park Forest??

Seriously, though, Jack Hunt a) is a defensive player, b) is a white guy and c) wears a different number.

He thought the rescue boat was driven by Jack Hunt.

Did Baton Rouge secure the safety of all the local celebrities yet? They should certainly go first.

heard he made a phone call describing the situation at his house and the responders went to a fire in Opelusas

Is it true that Jack Hunt was driving the boat?
