Seriously, this topic reeks of insecurity from some of the purple and gold faithful. Not all, but the ones who take time of out their day to complain about this. This kind of stuff confirms why some Cajun fans feel the way they do about LSU. When the legislature has to get involved because a former LSU president openly ADMITS that our name change would cause growth (which is a good thing btw), it summarizes every problem wrong with this state.

Why does this bother some of yall so much? Who gives a shite? They could be called the official University of Louisiana. Flagship of the entire UL system and it wouldn’t impact LSU at all.

LSU is LSU and will always be that way. There’s nothing any other public instate school can do to catch LSU athletically or academically.


Why is this information so difficult for some LSU people to grasp? It’s honestly such a pathetic look for the people in the state to want UL to fail. Do you think UGA people shite on Georgia Southern or Georgia State? Do you think UT people shite on Texas State?

Only in freaking Louisiana I swear.

The California university system naming structure (nomenclature) is the same: UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and “Cal” which is UC Berkeley.

The difference is there isn't another school with the same name that LSU agreed to use the A&M designation in order distinguish between the 2 schools.


UL of Lafayette really needs to drop this talking point as it makes no sense.

This reeks of confirmation bias. You leave an entire half of your university name off just going by “LSU.” I guess the rules are for the not me. The difference is that we don’t worry about what you call yourselves because we aren’t petty like that.
