Like I said before, lsu is distancing themselves from JJ for a reason.

Other than the suspension, I'm not seeing that, my friend. In fact, Miles latest statement on Jefferson seemed WAY more open and inviting to him than I would have expected.

quote:

They will let the judicial system play it's role

But don't expect this to be over with until maybe next year

I tend to agree with this, and as I said before, I can;t say for sure that if I were in Miles' shoes I'd definitely lift the suspension. Not because I'd worry about perception, but because Jj having to deal with all the legal stuff would be a distraction to both himself and the team. At this point, I think Miles is handling this pretty well...

Keeping him out of the whole season is ridiculous

ridiculous
not so much. Miles gets to take the high road and let this play out.
JJ may yet
1. do time.
2. plead guilty and pay a fine.
3. do time and pay a fine.
4. get off scot free with not guilty verdict
5. plea bargain with some civil suit repercussions.
6. all charges dropped

a couple of the real possible outcomes would preclude JJ ever playing for LSU again. a trial with a guilty verdict and jail time, for example.
be patient.
JJ would get a year of free school next year and be eligible.
We dont know how Mett is going to pan out.

That is probably their intent, the same as a politicians response when a question has been asked and and no intention of answering has been offered, but rather an intended change in the course of discussion.

Then it would be easy to provide examples of that. As I recall it, you had a rush to judgement by those who were VERY vocally already n the Lee camp, and you had others standing back waiting to see how things played out.
Search choctaw and cadello. Many were worse, but not as prolific.

quote:

I defended JJ as I would anyone else when their side of what appeared to be an altercation had yet to be heard.
Why? I don't get that at all.

quote:

The prudent thing for all concerned would have been to listen intently to those statements, and then wait to hear the other side. what happened was those with a vested interest in seeing JJ no longer under center declared him persona non grata and wanted him gone
I agree with your first line, and I never saw what you are claiming in the second.

quote:

Even if it turns out EVERYTHING went down EXACTLY as Lowry and Long told the officer on the scene it did, in NO WAY would it make the actions of the fans I'm talking about worthy of admiration. they STILL would have jumped the gun, running with what amounted to rumors at the time for no other reason than a personal desire to see a change in personnel on the field.
All I can say is, my perception of the posts/events is different than yours.

A perfect example. As I was saying...it's been mostly about a desire to see a change in personnel on the field, not much else.

If I were Unglesby, I would want to meet with Miles and the administration. I would want to know what options I had in defending Jeferson.

I would want to know about the ability to talk with other players to obtain their testimony and their ability to be witnesses.

I would want to know what plea options are available. Would a guilty plea to a misdemeanor result in continued suspension or expulsion? What effect would a nolo plea have?

I would want to know about Jefferson's ability to redshirt with Miles' permission.

There are a lot of reasons for Unglesby to meet with Miles and the adminnistration.
