Miles interviews going into this season and after the first game especially

I thought the same thing, especially the press conference after the Wisconsin game. He looked like his mind was blown and he kept folding the papers on the desk. Actually he had a WTFJH look about him like he was not expecting to happen anything close what had just happened.

same thing we have come to see the last 4 years or so.

1 - Really bad offense that can't sustain drives and stay on the field.

2 - Defense that stays on the field way too long and gets gassed.

3 - Bad punts/short fields for opponents.

Added to this year that the WR position hasn't performed up to par AT ALL! O-line hasn't really given either QB much time. Harris was 1 read only....Etlig makes reads but is usually under duress when he throws it.

It is because he did not have the balls to fire his buddy Cam last year and bring in a high profile spread offensive minded OC. If he would have got a new OC it probably would not have helped cause ol Les would have had that choke collar really tight on him cause he loves the toss dive to much

It seems to have been a bit of a perfect storm. Which is the reason for the firing and not waiting.

1. Lack of discipline. Game changing plays called back for holding or other dumb things.
2. Players unprepared. Receivers dropping balls, Offensive line missing blocking assignments, QB playing like crap (both). No knowledge of hurry up offense.
3. Very poor play calling. How many times did we run 3 passing plays and out and then 3 running plays and out? Very predictable.
4. Bad luck. Even with all 3 happening we still didn't catch a break or even get calls that should have gone our way (LF's 'fumble')

In the end, it all comes down to the coaches and the amount of discipline they instill in the players to do their job and not screw up drives. It's creating toughness in a team to overcome a bum call or another team's good play. All of that is 100% on the coach. It doesn't happen in a vacuum. When you don't correct (some see it as yelling) your kids, then they will automatically get lazy on you. It's just human nature. If your game plan is 'luck', then it's not a game plan. Look at how unprepared we are for the games where we have time off. That would be bowl games and Alabama. We do worse and look more lost when we should actually be sharper and hungrier due to practicing and getting ready.

It seems that this has been turned around. I hope so. However, I don't put a lot of hope or excitement on Saturday's game. I won't hold Coach O to it if he can't do a 180 in less than a week. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised Saturday.
