Rest in eternal peace Coach! I enjoyed being coached by you at SCC for those 4 years and continuing our friendship after that. You taught me how to run routes and taught me how to be a man all while cracking jokes every chance you got. I think I have 12 nicknames that have stuck with me thanks to you. Will miss talking to you about officiating and I keep your wife, daughters, and grandbaby in my prayers. Love ya Coach Chap!
I ask that you respect his family and not continue to ask why he died, instead ask how the man lived, Thanks.

I went to SCC too. I played football and ran track when he was the head track coach. I had a nickname too like everyone else.
He made me go run a lap around the football field during Civics class because I let out a curse word in class. He was reading from his Civics book out the window facing the field entertaining the class while I ran my lap
. I can go on and on. He was funny but could be tough on you at the same time. I always looked forward to going to his class and playing for him.

I hope it’s not what it sounds like: “not natural causes”, “don’t continue to ask”… that wound never leaves loved ones.

He also dubbed me Hollywood once for wearing sunglasses to a practice and team pictures.
What year did you graduate?

A great man. Very sad to hear of his passing.

He's not the ump who used to be a teacher/coach and then switched careers into selling chlorine is it? Can't remember exactly where he was from.

I knew Mark through this, he was always kind, helpful, and just genuine. I knew he was an ump but learning here he was a teacher as well his personality now makes sense. He’ll be missed and wishing his family the best in these times.

Oh wow. I met him just a few months ago. He was our salesman of chlorine and he came do an educational class.
After it was over he came up to me, because he noticed my LSU hat, and asked if I liked LSU baseball. He told me he was an SEC ump. He looked familiar to me that whole day, but I thought it was just dumb because why would I recognize a salesman. It all clicked when he told me he umpired. He was extremely nice and we had a long conversation about SEC baseball. I enjoyed his stories. Seemed like a great guy.
