The Talking heads have no issue with these Paid Players, sitting out games or bouncing from team to team chasing money. Then a coach does it, and it’s “think about the kids”. That same kids that would roll out on you at the drop of a hat for a few dollars..

They don’t even care about it consistently.

No one is roasting Sumrall for going to UF.
No one is commenting how Tulane is letting Sumrall continue to coach while also blasting Kiffin for trying to continue with his team.
Hypocrisy is everywhere.

Oh well, I’m happy to be the CFB villain again.

If they pushed back the transfer portal and early signing window to February this wouldn’t be an issue. Or if they put actual guardrails on the transfer portal.

This was the natural outcome of the way the powers that be have set up the playoff and talent accumulation calendar, I.e they occur simultaneously. All these media types wanted a big expanded playoff and unfettered player movement…well this is the result

Exactly.

I am sure I will get down voted but the issue is not that he left its how it all went down. No players are leaving teams in the playoffs. Regardless of who you blame Lane or the AD the OM players are the ones who get screwed but this is CFB. If OM was 9-3 and not in the playoff this would be a non issue.

There is either freedom of movement or there is not. How your team just happens to be doing at that moment is irrelevant.

The entire system is now based upon personal fulfillment. People wanted this. Now they have it. Quit bitching.

Of these professional athletes that announce a transfer to another team for any reason whatsoever just before playoffs started for their current team.

It’s not an equal comparison. Players have a different timeline for transfer. They can play through the playoff and still transfer after the season.

Anyone shitting on Lane for leveling up is certainly a hypocrite. Several of these talking heads have jumped from one network to another. And to pretend a coach should take the high road and not take his staff is hysterical. Every coach in the history of football has taken their staff. The gig is transient, from s&c to coordinators and everything in between. You gotta be prepared to leave if HC decides it’s time to move. And lord knows if they are fired, the new HC is brining in his staff.

The issue that everyone can agree on is the calendar. Without changes, this will happen again. I mean it’s already happening with two coaches in the playoff in one year.

It's a problem and something should be done. But not yet, as it will negatively affect MY team!

1) Coaches have a right to consider other coaching opportunities.

2) Lane Kiffin wanted to coach Ole Miss throughout thr playoff run, but IT WAS OLE MISS THAT SAID NO.

I truly feel sorry for anyone who can't understand this situation. For those who do understand it but want to blame Kiffin anyway, screw them.

This was performative. Kiffin knew from the beginning this was never possible, from the standpoint of both Ole Miss and LSU.

He is acting like he wanted to do it, as a PR shield against criticism for abandoning his team, when it was never a reality.

I don't blame him. It's a smart play.

It’s very stupid. Would they be saying the same thing if Sumrall had Tulane in the playoffs and took the LSU job? Hell no. And why not? It’s not much different. This is reality with any coach who does well and has aspirations to coach at a bigger program, until the rules change with recruiting, transfer portal, early signing, etc.

Don’t hate the player…well, the coach in this case. Hate the game.

Ole Miss had 79 players leave their current schools to go to Oxford over the past three years. 79 players that believed Ole Miss was a better fit for their future. I’m not being critical, just saying it works both ways.
