Ben McDonald said last night on Twitter that the SID told him to call them UL. Sun Belt has told them numerous times to stop, ULL doesn't care.

It has been maybe 12-15 years, but at one point the Sun Belt was pushing the "UL". Glad that they have changed.

Ben referring to them as UL is incorrect, unprofessional and disrespectful to the other schools in the University of Louisiana system.

Hell, had it not been for The Waterboy, they would have never thought of it.

It looks like they borrowed their shirts from the Little League state champs.

I am a NLU grad, my penis doesn't allow me to give a damn about the name of our school. ULM is our name now. Us calling it UL wouldn't change a damn thing. We would still be a directional school with a small regional fanbase.

ULL thinks it will change something, it really matters to them and I don't know why. They have a slightly larger regional presence and that is about it. They lack many many things that would make them worthy of a national following, and they just don't understand. If they build up their brand and can do something in football or basketball in a legit conference, they may have a case. Until then, just lipstick on a pig.

Seems most conferences have a dress code that includes having your school nname on your uniform. Maybe a fine for ahout 100 grand could be a start.

They don't have a case or the legal right to call themselves anything other than ULL check the regulations with The University Systems.

I don't care. Rules are meant to be changed, If they can succeed in a real conference and they continue to make splashes in the postseason, I see no real problem with it. It may help merchandising and/or recruiting. The fact everybody is up in arms about it one way or other is kinda crazy.

almost wish that UL-Monroe would start referring to themselves as simply UL and calling themselves Louisiana. I wonder how the media and everybody else would handle that confusion?

They already tried that

I agree, I never get any Warhawk fans opinions on this. They go by ULM, why should Lafayette go by ULL on everything

That is because ULM folks want to be called the NLU Indians and they don't have the Napoleonic Complex like ULaLa and La Tech does.

I will say, though, that the Caitlyn Jenner argument is solid. They're basically making the same case. They want to be called what they self identify as.

It's amazing how people can be so butt hurt over this.
I'm pretty sure LSU isn't affected by this stuff.

UL is easier for them to spell.
Everyone should know it takes two L's to spell ULL.

There is no "butthurt" here and you are right, LSU is NOT affected by this stuff in the grand scheme of things.

The problem is that the vocal ULL people are like a whiny 6 year old in the grocery store line in front of you who wants a candy bar and their mom won't give it to them. They won't shut the hell up about it and they are hard to ignore.
