My nieces were treated quite ugly by some LSU fans at the last LSU/USL football game.
I don't blame the whole fan base for that, though.

I agree. LSU is the Flagship University and I think that we should be glad when any of our colleges do well, academically or in athletics.
Just trying to fill in the gaps. Some people think that there is some irrational hatred from UL folks for LSU.

Why was LSUE built 30 miles away from UL? Why cant UL-Lafayette have right to be called University of Louisiana or use the term UL? Why was the PHD Computer Science program taken away at UL and given to LSU.
The fact that other schools in the UL system would never agree to become part of the LSU system, because the LSU board would have direct control over that institution, LSU is so corrupt that I could see LSU doing what Alabama did to UAB and getting rid of another schools football program for the simple fact that they thought of them as a nuisance.

I agree. I'm just saying that all of this stuff happened long before most of the current students were even born. I doubt they're mad about a doctorate program being pulled 50 years ago.
Heck, as a fan of both I've been treated like crap from both fan bases at least once. Sorry your nieces went through that. It's uncalled for.

I just gave my reasons in earlier posts.
I would say it's more rational than the complaining you read on this board about the SEC and Alabama.
I love my state, and am glad when any of its schools do well.

The doctorate program was pulled in the early 80s. And that's just one of the reasons, for the animosity.

I wish LSU well. I have family members who have graduated from there.
I don't get worked up about the football game because I know it's going to be a blow out.
But I am glad to see them competitive in baseball. They're getting a beast of a pitcher next year.

My frustration definitely isn't with the whole fan base. Just the obnoxious ones that hate on LSU out of pure jealousy. Living here, I run into more than I'd like. I went to ULL, my brother and sister both went to LSU. I have many good memories on both campuses and love both schools. I'm a little more forgiving of the LSU fan base because as a bigger school it's far more likely to draw idiot fans. But I can't stand them either.
