ULM also has a great engineering program

Which they really shouldn't have. Why have an engineering program in Monroe AND Ruston when they're less than 30-minutes from each other.

Agreed but I doubt Tech will stop there program without a State mandate. Seriously, the problem is obvious that the State schools could offer more if they were merged. The problem is alumni, administration and politicians who all believe there school should house the various programs, curriculum, degrees and athletic programs. If ULM, Tech, Grambling and LSU Shreveport were consolidated,a great University could be started. Including a great Pharmacy school and medical center. Same could be true with some mergers in south Louisiana.

Is tier 2 more impressive to you than tier 1? What bout tier 3? Is that more impressive to you than tier 1?

Tell me, is there a better tier ranking than 1?

there is no tier 2, which makes me wonder if you can actually read as that was explained in my post. the reading comprehension in this thread is abysmal.

What ULL fails to mention on their web site is in the lawsuit:

Tulane is already the University of Louisiana...

and has been a very long time..

which was also brought up in that case and the main reason ULL had no case in the first place.

"ULL" received permission to use the name from tulane before they attempted the name change. nice try though

LSU is the flagship everyone in the state wants to pull for and go to, b/c it makes them feel good about the place they live.

Tulane is the academically rich school that the NE yankee kids want to come to. Get away from mom and dad, do a lil coke, and go slummin on the weekends.

ULaLa is the commuter school kids go to when mom and dad cant drop 20k a yr to send them to state and wish 'they would stay close to home'

Um LSU is not that expensive to go to. There's Division II schools in this area that cost just as much if not more than LSU.lol.

I'd say that 28,000 enrollment leans more to the fact it's so easy to get into. I guarantee if you it's hard to get into, like you say, there wouldn't be that many.

Thank you. They act like LSU is so expensive and hard to get into.lol. Some people don't choose a school because of popularity in sports. Some people choose schools because of location or specific majors, some don't like city life, etc. I hate it when people act like students from ULL, ULM, La Tech go to those schools because they couldn't get into LSU or couldn't afford LSU's tuition.

Whatever man, if you would have read the post after that one I listed the princeton review results for 2008. Did you even go to LSU? I guess you also played sports in college too...

Yes I attended and graduated from LSU and played a sport in college. If you're trying to insinuate that ULL has a better engineering school than LSU or La Tech than I think you're mistaken. In the engineering community an engineering degree from LSU and La Tech are looked upon more highly than other LA Universities. When the time came for me to make my decision USL wasn't even on the map. And no, it wasn't solely based on athletics. Hell, until today I didn't even know ULL had an engineering department.

Bottom line, if a resume comes across my desk from a ULL engineering grad (and I've yet to see one or come across a ULL engineering grad), his work experience better be impressive or he won't get a second thought.

You have an engineering degree from LSU, hire engineers in Baton Rouge, and you aren't aware of an engineering school that is 45 minutes from your office?

If your response to a candidate is, "I didn't know ULL offered engineering degrees", I doubt they'll have much confidence in you as an employer.

My response with the did you go to LSU and sports thing was because typically people who answer blindly to everything but LSU didn't, so if you did I apologize. If you had read my post, I am not saying it is better just that its just as good, backed up by the princeton review statement from 2008. Did you know that Tulane had an engineering dept? Or, because of them not being from Tech or LSU they wouldn't get hired either. Agreeing with the fact that you did not know that a major D-I university 45 min. from you had a highly ranked engineering dept doesn't help your claims. God forbid UL has something nationally ranked
Think about it, why wouldn't the oil center of Louisiana have a good engineering school? I don't care I cant count pass 20 on a good day (engineering), I was just making a point that is backed up by stats. Don't take it personally.... Just arguing because I dont' have any patients to see again today....

Basically ANYONE can get into ULL, but at least for LSU you have to have a 22 on your ACT an a B Average (3.0) in highschool

A coworker was bragging about LSU's rising acceptance standards. I asked him if he would've been accepted if those standards had been in place when he went to LSU. He had to answer, "Well, I would've worked harder if I'd known..." So basically, "No."

That's a comment is taken out of complex, b/c at one point in the 60's LSU would accept a 15 on the ACT, (my uncle) USL, SLU, and every other school in state were open admissions

Since ULL can do, so can ULM. ULM is dropping the M and declaring to be the "flag ship school" of LA. What the hell makes ULL think they are the only school in the University of Louisiana system?
