What "tude" problems? Colston is about as squeaky clean and hard working as they come.

His problem was he was from a small school, and expected to fill out and become a TE.

Very talented guys get picked in the NFL draft and not in the 7th round

Jay Ratliff from the Cowboys comes to mind when thinking about Ricky Jean Francois. 7th round pick out of Auburn based on just size and speed. three years later he's a pro-bowler. Now who knows what red flags were on Ricky but there had to be some that weren't football related because this guy can dominate when he is on the field. He has first round talent. I wonder what else the NFL knew that we don't.

It seems that RJF never really committed to doing what was necessary to make himself a top flight player. He obviously wasn't at LSU for the educational opportunity and he pretty much squandered the national exposure inherent with LSU football. Maybe, just maybe, getting drafted that low will force him to understand that anything less than 110% effort and dedication to the learning process will result in absolute failure. It's time for RJF to either 'fish or cut bait.'

RJF is only 1.5 inches shorter and 1 lb lighter and can also play that 3-4 end position that proved to be key to tyson's draft success.

1.5 inches is pretty significant.

Also TJ was much faster,
TJ started for 3 years and had a really good 06. RJF started for one year and had one good game his whole career.

They are a very valuable tool in grading a prospect.

The difference between being the number 3 pick over-all and being at best a 7th rounder appers to be attitude.

It might be the fact that Tyson was pretty much a four year starter at DE for a very good SEC team where as RJF had a good freshman year, only played in one game at a new position his soph year and didn't have a great Jr year but declared for the draft anyway.

Oh yeah, Tyson is a freak of an athlete too.

Terrell Davis was a 6th but I guess he had not talent either. Or Tom Brady. Or Marcus Colston.

If RJF plays to his potential & can concentrate on sports full time, he will be an All-Pro IMHO.

No, he's not. Very talented guys get picked in the NFL draft and not in the 7th round.

Lets see,
*Skins drafted Chris Horton in the 7th. last year. He started 14 games finished with 72 tackles and 3 ints.

*Bills drafted Steve Johnson (KY) in the 7th., he had more yards and TD's than their 2nd. round draft choice.

*Browns drafted Alex Hall in the 7th. played enough after a switch to OLB. 19 tackles, 1 ff and 3 sacks.

*Colts in the 7th. got Jamey Richard, he started 7 games on the OL.

* Peyton Hillis some remember him out of Ark. Before being injured had around 350 yds. and 5 TD's.

FA's also make teams, two easy ones, former LSU players Randall "Blue" Gay and Ryan Clark.

No one said that RJF couldn't be a solid NFL player. It's definitely possible. The OP tried to say that RJF's athleticism was on the same level as Jackson's which is terribly wrong. He basically tried to say the RJF's attitude is the only reason that he got picked in the 7th round. This is retarded.

RJF isn't very talented compared to NFL combine freaks. That what talent is right, natural god given athletic ability? RJF was pumped on this website about his talent and it was vastly overrated. "Very talented" guys with attitude and/or work ethic problems don't go in the 7th round, see Michael Johnson, DE georgia Tech.

He's good at blocking field goals, so he has that going for him. He has tons of potential and he can be very explosive off the ball. He didn't have the explosiveness at the end of last year, maybe he had quit trying then

There were enough questions about RJF that he didn't go high in the draft, but the important thing is that he's got his shot at the pros. If he works hard, can avoid injuries, and stops doing stupid things on the field...he's got plenty of potential.

...And I'm not crying for anyone that gets a 1 year contract for $400,000. How many of you are beating that?
