Here's a look at LSU redshirt freshman Tyler Shelvin, who had to sit out last fall.

Ed Orgeron said this week that he's looking for Shelvin to emerge as the No. 2 nose tackle next fall.

Shea - Here's a look at #LSU redshirt freshman Tyler Shelvin

For comparison - Glenn Dorsey:

He actually looks pretty good imo.

We have definitely seen fatter before.

Well Dorsey payed in a 4-3 and Shelvin will play in a 3-4.

Shelvin will be heaven er and eat up blockers. That is his job.

He’s listed at like 380, that’s a big ol’ baw.

But wasn’t it him doing the backflips into a pool in that video?

Kinda, yeah. Alexander was too fat to stay on rhe field last year—that’s why Gilmore played so much more than him. Shelvin looks fatter than Ed. But there’s a long way to go till September. I think he’ll be fine.

He's not a LB for crying out loud - he's a DL and we gotta have stout guys to make a formidable front to challenge the Bama's of this world. Dude is good. That's all that should concern you.

Yes it was. I had forgotten about that. He was pretty athletic for a 380 pound or more guy.

I think Big Ed’s issue has been more his broken hand than anything. I believe the Advocate has an article about how it’s never really healed after he injured it in 2016.

That's awesome to hear. If one or both of the freshman NTs can contribute we will finally have solid depth at that position.

Ed hurt his groin vs MSU. He played a good bit when he returned a month or so later

He looks good from what he looked like last fall. He was huge, like Wilfork big.

Sure he will but I could get him into shape easy, just let me on a good card with fresh hot pizza and put on full speed and can catch the golf cart to eat. Wasn't he 380 at one point ?

He looks to be around 350lbs or so and will probably play around 330lbs. He's vastly improved since HS and even coming in last year at LSU. He was much bigger than this. He lost the weight but needs to get into tip top shape but he has plenty of time to do it. This guy is a serious athlete for his size. Extremly quick, and can actually get skinny as funny as that sounds but he can split defenders really well. He's just a big guy and much bigger than Dorsey ever was. He needs to train but other than that he's fine.
