i read today that LSU has bumped next years tulane game in favor of the chicken kickoff game against nc. tulane coach toledo seems a bit put off with LSU opting out of this game. he doesnt mind the yearly beat down, they just want the revenue. i for one would like to see the "rag rivalry" reborn, but who cares if it boils down to a guaranteed win for us. LA tech seems to be headed in a respectable direction.....maybe we should remake the rag with a bulldog on one side.

Toledo needs to focus on not getting his teeth kicked in, and let us worry about national exposure and our schedule.

The dome was an embarassing ghosttown on ESPN the other night. He needs to do better.

playing Tulane helps Tulane a loooooooooooooooot more than LSU

Tulane either needs to agree to a 4-1 series or just eliminate the game.

The way I read it, Tulane has to accept the agreement.

Is that not so?

It needs to be a home game for us every year. We need all the money we can get to keep ticket prices down.

LSU might compensate Tulane a little bit for rearranging the contract but I doubt its much at all because you can also dangle the baseball carrot in front of them too. Give us a hard time in football, no more baseball.

Face it, Bertman has done a lot of good things for LSU, but the Tulane football series was not one of them. Realistically LSU should've looked for a game against another BCS school in New Orleans and that might've worked but then LSU would want that game on campus!

It is NOT the responsibility of LSU to fund toolame's football team. If the azzholes cannot raise enough money to support their pathetic excuse for an "athletic program" fuk 'em.

I read in the TimesPic that 2,500 tickets were electronically swiped. That is horrible - they need to put some meat in the seats!! Quit worrying about the TIGERS.

I like the series because of the longevity but they are not competitive so...

Time to stop subsidizing The Slime athletic program with LSU money. Just let em dry up and blow away, which will probably happen soon without all the Tiger bucks keeping them afloat.

It's gonna be like the Olive and Sky Blue Tulane Titanic hitting a big Purple and Gold iceberg. They wont realize the damage at first, but soon that ship will start sinking and quickly after will be resting on the bottom. (As in Tulane dropping football or going Div.2 or 3)

I for one will be my arse off when it all goes down........

I say we should play only one in-state school each year...We can give 'em each a turn every so many years.

On paper, it was a good deal. LSU got the revenue for 40,000 tickers. Even though it was an "away" game, it was close enough location to keep the home field advantage. So, it made more money than a true away game and yet had the atmosphere of home game.

It has turned out less than predicted. The Dome just shallows up the 50k+ LSU fans and the few Tulane fans that show. It is never a packed house since Tulane sells so few tickets.

Tulane needs to move to a stadium closer to campus to reconnect with the student body and to encourage a tail-gating/alumni feel. The Superdome does nothing for Tulane except to make them look really bad on national TV.

Plus, doesn't the state pick up the tab for all of Tulane's expenses each time it plays at the Dome? I seriously doubt Tulane is paying the full bill to keep the lights on at the Dome along with all the support personal.

Tulane needs to move their regular home games over to Tad Gormley Stadium.

The tulane deal was just Stanley Bertman looking out for his/Moses' people and getting a chance to be lazy at the same time. Win/win for him.

We had the same situation with the same team this year. Bama was to open in the Superdome but got invited to ATL instead.
We had to pay TU a certain amount close to whatever they deemed fair and find them an opponent I do believe. They could have kept us from playing VT but said if we do this and that we could move on.

Please! They are no more legit than Tulane, ULL, or ULM! They just think they are a big time program and that is a joke!
