You gonna sit the best or third-best hitter we've got coming back?

LSU cannot accept the level that of play behind the plate we had last season with respect to passed balls, wild pitches, and throwing out runners. So the ones we got have to do better or sit behind someone who can.

The guy he is advocating for had more passed balls than Bide and Serna combined. His caught stealing percentage, 10 of 34, is worse than Bide's, 9 of 24 this season and 12 of 32 overall at LSU.

I agree with your point. Mine is that catcher field play has got to improve whether it is new players or current ones get better.

He's a legit player, but C is just not a position of need this year. We could get better defensively there though.

I would argue it's our largest position of need.

Agreed.

I think at least part of the solution is better control. How many times, when Ben McDonald was the commentator for LSU, did he say "that pitch was not where the catcher was expecting it"? I feel like I heard that this season more than I have in the entire time I have been watching LSU baseball combined, and I'm 64 years old. It not only makes it harder to simply catch the ball but it also makes it harder to frame pitches. Hopefully, both guys can take a giant step forward, because their bats are certainly needed.
