The GFDL model has been thought of a somewhat reliable model over the years

GFDL sucks at long range modeling. Funny just 3 years ago nobody knew what an ocean model run was today everyone is an expert. No model is precise in dealing with 8+ days. Models will not converge until 3 days out. Notice all the models have simular paths in the 2-3 day range? Stop with all the sky is falling BS models will always have outliers to cause someone to freak..

Well Im a advid poster at storm2k.org there are many very trained oceanographers and meterologist that post there. As well as a very good collection of model listing and expert opinions. (Also many ranter like people too though) Other than that I call my buddies back where I used to work and get the scoop. Came in handy when I worked there during Katrina since I was evacuating the friday before the storm. (Of course I had to drive back 2 days after the storm which sucked!)

Hence, a cone of probability.

The sky is not falling. But you ask a local official with the current storm protection that Metro New Orleans is under and see if they shouldn't be concerned if they do fall under that cone....and Catman, is this storm the way it is bombing not disconcerning?

I AM NOT SAYING IT IS COMING HERE. JUST MONITOR.

That is what those pros at the NHC usually tell us.

Bombing out I should say...or rapid intensification.

It was just an Invest this morning and then a quick upgrade at tropical storm...

...and to add there is just as likely a set up that can bring this thing right back to Coral Gables unfortunately for those folks after it gets to the South Central Gulf....

But we shall see...

I could write a book on how the NHC is pretty screwed up but I will pass.

I think it goes without saying to monitor ANY storm that enters the gulf.

Almost assured it wont affect this game. Probably wont know what it will do until Saturday. Could ruin the holiday weekend though.

What I find amusing is discussing Invests and model trends on a Tiger board that is intended to do anything but discuss Invests and Model Trends...I came here curious about the upcoming games and got myself trapped in a nerdy discussion.

For further info....Weather Underground and Accuweather can link you up on good info.

Most of all...try to stay ahead of the local TV Mets...they I found screwed the pouch on Katrina...None of them said much of it til Friday night during the Saints Preseason game.

Sorry never think to read it.. he has some balls though.. Any guy that has ever been a hurricane hunter has to have a tough stomach.. Knew one guy that flew out into one to see what it was like and he said it didnt take long for him to throw up.

BTW been meaning to ask your opinion on the political convention this week we may as well discuss it here ... there's nothing going on with LSU football. Let's talk about the weather and politics ... anybody for religion too? Cool we could really clog up the board.
