They were talking about the Bengals playoff hopes and how Jeremy Hill has been coming on late and the more he touches the ball, the more Andy Dalton has less chances to turn the ball over. Then Trey Wingo says "You look at LSU and how they had Jeremy Hill, Juice Landry, OBJ and Mettenberger ... how did they not win the National Championship and score 60 points a game down in Baton Rouge"

I understand our D that year was weaker than previous years and I'm not coming here to bash LSU/Miles or anyone. I just think it's ridiculous how often we hear this. I hope Miles and his staff realizes we can put those numbers Trey mentioned because why couldn't we? And for what reasons should we not?

I already mentioned this, but I agree with you completely. No excuse for this putrid offense.

They did put up huge numbers but why couldn't our offense look the way it did vs Georgia every game?

Because Georgia's defense was dog shite, that's why. If we could have only played the Dawgs every week.

To answer the question though there's 3 reasons.

1. DJ Welter
2. Anthony Johnson & Ego Ferguson underperformed
3. Miscommunications & breakdowns by the secondary in every loss.

The truth lies in the middle. On one end there is the "we should've won the NC and been the top offense in every statistical category" crowd that doesn't recognize we did some really good things on offense last year and the "we were a historic offense" crowd that has been conditioned to expect putrid offense and think any offense that appears competent to them is historic/great. Truth is, we did some really good things with those players but we probably could/should have been even better.

Depends. Are we playing an entire healthy 2013 Bulldog offense the entire season or do we play the injury depleted team they became towards the end of the season? Even healthy though, the offense could have managed to out score them half the of those games.

because our coach was certainly not nicknamed "summa cum laude" at Michigan while attending the university. that's for sure.

Because they shut it down from the Florida game on. Went back to 2 backs 2 tights for the remainder of the season.

Prior to Florida all was well. Then we went to a victory offense.

27
44
26

Those were the points the defense gave up against TCU, Georgia & Mississippi State. Maybe, just maybe the coaches realized the liabilities on defense & decided to play a more complementary style of offense to protect a defense that had showed signs of being suspect early on.

Well how did that work out? 3 losses. Keep playing conservative and shorten the game even though we had superior offensive talent over every team we played.

What we did on offense at Georgia and Miss St we should have done every game.

Well then you waste incredible offensive talent. Like Trey Wingo said.
