Because the subsequent pure luck has absolutely nothing to do with Trey Quinn and nothing to do with his drop. You keep trying to connect the two to make it seem like Quinn's drop wasn't a big deal. A play defines itself, not the ones before it or the ones after.

When Quinn dropped it, yes it was a big deal. But the subsequent events did happen. We cant ignore them like they didnt. So to rest blame on the drop knowing we had a better opportunity later in the game, due to the drop happening, makes it illogical to place any blame on the RESULT OF THE GAME on the dropped pass.

I am completely fine with saying it was a horrible drop and Quinn failed.

But placing any part of the loss on the drop is illogical to me now that we know the subsequent events that took place after.

This is all that matters. All of the other drivel you wrote after means nothing.

Against Notre Dame, Matt Linehart was running for the endzone late in the game and he fumbled the ball out of bounds when he was hit. If he didnt fumble, he was about to be tackled in bounds and the clock would have expired. However, the clocked stopped due to the fumble and USC scored on the next play.

So, the fumble helped USC win

Now, did linehart fail by fumbling? Yes

Is the object in football not to fumble? Yes

Did the fumble help them win? Yes

Was it pure luck? Yes

Sometimes in life and in sports one can screw up, then by pure luck, that screwup ends up leading to a better situation or result

Not sure why that rustles your jimmies

You slow? My drivel was never in response to Quinn failing or not failing. It was in resposne to the drop costing LSU the game

Since you know exactly what would have happened had we gotten a first down? Your logic is beyond laughable.

I'm sure he lost the trust of the coaching staff after failing to first communicate and then timely correct his vision issues

I've never seen a thread go on for this many pages about a 4-5 WR transferring. Shite, other more important guys have transferred and the thread gets about 2 pages. I know Quinn appealed to the masses for a compelling reason, but he didn't pan out at WR for LSU. I too am a Barbe grad, and I was excited when TQ signed with LSU. The staff couldn't promise he'd be anymore than a 3-4 WR, at best, and he saw the writing on the wall. Time to let this thread RIP.

I remember when this freshman gave up a homerun in the CWS and LSU didn't win the national championship. Good thing the coaching staff didn't give up on him.

Where did i say the staff should give up on freshman that make mistakes?

Great talent, but not able to move ahead of the talent in front of him at LSU.
Wishing him much success wherever he goes.

The truth is Quinn never should have come here. He has a tough time beating press coverage and with the formations we run that is going to be a must. It isnt the staffs fault either. They do not need to change their offense for one player. Quinn most likely wanted to come here due to being a fan and feeling the pressure of being an in-state kid. He would have been burned at the stake if he left. It is just a shitty situation but him leaving does not hurt LSU at all IMHO

TQ might be the last of a dying breed, position-wise at LSU. I think if he played in the trenches, this thread would have been dead.

Without his poor vision he doesn't drop that pass, we don't pin 'Bama inside the 5 and then they don't fumble. His not getting laser surgery was HUGE in us almost winning that game. LEAVE QUINN ALONE!!!

Yeah, maybe if we convert a 3rd down and score, we put the game out of reach. GTFOHWTBS

Yeah, it's a joke. I'm making fun of a poster who actually believes that stuff I just posted.
